I know it's not really considered a music subject per se, but I am an avid guitar player who treats his own guitar like a piece of art more than an axe to express his euphoric psych visions of arpeggio pleasures, I am probably denouncing my own self but that's how I look at them. Anyway deviating away from the subject that be I would like to know your favorite guitar shapes if you have one, I myself have always been in love with the Gibson Explorer, Mosrite Ventures 1,2, and I would say possibly the classic V or the Jackson Rhoads. What's your favorites?
Any unconventional style axes really......like the ones used by Bo Didley, Otway & Barrett and Batio........and any of the Voxx models. By blackglove at 2009-12-03 By blackglove at 2009-12-03
There are so many. Ibanez Jem's and JS's are some of my favorites, except those ones play wonderfully as well as they look. I also love what Herman Li has done with his signature series, with the grip on the upper cut-away. The E-Gen is also based on the S series with the Edge Zero trem(a variation of ZR trem), so again the guitar is to be played rather than merely to be looked at. Actually, there's a guitar known as "The Ultra Zone Guitar" which first appeared as a part of the artwork on the cover of Steve Vai's "The Ultra Zone" album. Later someone actually built the guitar based on this design. Just for the looks, I think this guitar is right up there with the best of them.
