Yet if you've got the answers or interesting theories, then spill them forth. Here are the questions: What placed you in particular in the particular human body you are now? Why not the same you being some other human come up with other parents? Why were you put the particular human being that you are currently? Would the human body you are now still have been born if it wasn't you the owner and operater of it? What do you think? How were we put the particular humans that we are in the first place? Why not I in your place, you in my place? What's behind the placement of the particular self to the particular human being body?
the sun wasn't made from us. we were made from the sun. if i were in your body, i would be you. the idea of souls is a nice compliment, but we're just brains. imo
Tormentations, wouldn't the best conclusion be that our "self" (the conscious and sentient mind that perceives, thinks, and is aware of such, with its own personality) is the product of physiology (genes, temperament), behavioral conditioning (sensory perceptions and interpretations of external reality) and our own cognitions (internal stream of consciousness and deliberation)? Change one of these factors and you have a different "self". Get those dualistic thoughts out of that body-dependent mind of yours!
What placed you in particular in the particular human body you are now? pure chance, mostly. Why not the same you being some other human come up with other parents? absolutely no reason at all it couldn't have been. not only some other human body, but some other human equivelant body on some world totally alien to this one. Why were you put the particular human being that you are currently? i'm not in a particular human being. my "I"ness is my true self, which is completely nontangible and has nothing to do with any body. i'm the particular self that i am because thats just what and how we are. each a unique drop out of the ocean of universal consciousness, idividuated with diverse and unique preinclinations. none of which has anything to do with the bodies we come to occupy in this life or any other. Would the human body you are now still have been born if it wasn't you the owner and operater of it? why not? How were we put the particular humans that we are in the first place? this is getting repititious. really i feel that was entirely answered with the first couple of questions if not the very first. What's behind the placement of the particular self to the particular human being body? very little other then complete random chance. although even chance has statistical trends, and it is through THESE that societies evolve, and through these, that whatever hands of guidance there might be, opperate.
This seems to assume two things - first that there is a 'me' separate from the body, second that some power, god perhaps, 'put me here'. I prefer to think that I arose as part of natural processes. If I was a different body I'd have different genetic templating, psychological imprints and education, so I wouldn't be me. I am who I am because of genetic inheritance, conditioning and imprinting. It's not that prior to birth I existed in the constructed form I now seem to posses. Without the body there would be no me. If this was a different body, I would be a different person.
