So, recently I got into a horrible car crash and almost took a one way ticket if you know what I mean, even the surgeons said they very surprised that I didn't. In the accident, we had a head on collison with a wall made of metre wide stones and the force of it caused a couple of ribs to break puncturing my left lung, my diaphram to tear, a kidney to get laserations (did I spell that right?), my intestines to squish up into my diaphram and a couple of lower spinal vertabrates to break (L3 and L2 I believe). This resulted in the paralysis of my left leg. My back now has metal hardware in it. My leg has come a long way and it is only paralysed in the quad muscles now (lucky). Anyways, after going through the hospital, then the rehabilitation center, everything seemed to go okay pain wise. I moved from hydromorphone to codein to nothing. However, now I am starting to experience back pain, most excruciating when I sneeze, but still sore whenever I stand or sit, twist, lie on my back/stomach and when I walk too much (uneven because of my bad leg). I also experience the worst pain I have ever felt in my diaphram at random moments. It feels like someone just stabbed a knife in there and I'm left to die, not able to breath, but to just cringe on the floor helplessly. However, my real question is: what do you think I should ask for to control my pain at the doctors that would be realistic? I also dont want to be taking anything like Tylenol 3 or anything with Tylenol in it, just something more pure. Do you think the doctor would perscribe me something more pure, if so, what do you reccomend for this particular situation?

Whatever you like, you don't have to read large blocks of text if you do not wish to do so. That's the beauty of this world...

You didn't mention how long ago your accident was. And you said it got better, and then suddenly worse. So something else is going on. Something they missed during surgery or something. So I'd recommend going in and asking for an MRI.

what the guy above me said. if its been a long time since the accident, don't expect any meds, but its worth a try anyway just to see what the deal is.

Glad you made it through that one! Those are a lot of injuries. If you're having pains that bad, I'd go get it checked out in case something's seriously wrong in there. That kind of pain isn't normal.

It doesn't hurt to be honest, especially if you're actually experiencing a lot of pain. Tell the doctor how high your ongoing pain is, as well as your acute pain. Then, hope for the best. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Stop: twisting, lying on your back or stomach, walking too much, and take Ibuprofen or Advil.
