Two of my favorite films right behind Easy Rider. I love both of these films so much I bought them (double-pack). Completely different types of movies, yet very similar. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
That's a classic 60's film. Oddly enough, Jack Nicholson wrote it. Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper star in it, they were all a bunch of trippers. Even wierder, Jack Nicholson wrote "Head", the psychedlic Monkee's movie, too.
I was a little bit disappointed by 'The Trip' .To be honest I think that 'Coogan's Bluff' is a better 'head' film than 'The Trip'!!!. Although Peter Fonda was convincing as the tortured soul seeking solace through l.s.d. I was less than convinced by the kaleidoscopic effects & drone mawkish music soundtrack. The final scene where Peter Fonda is 'trippin'' down the Sunset Strip is the best part of the film. I have 'Psych Out' on a dvd but have yet to find the time to watch it.I will no doubt will get round to it.I only hope that 'Psych Out' is an improvement on 'The Trip'.
I have psych-out and I watch it all the time! It's fantastic! However I'm not sure if Nicholson's long hair is so real..^_^
Here's a scene from Psych-out, with Jack Nicholson, Susan Strasberg and Dean Stockwell. I can believe Nicholson's hair is real, but I'm certain Stockwell's is a wig!
I think that Jack Nicholson has a hair-extension attachment on his pony tail!. Having watched 'Psych-Out' I must say that if any film 'exploited' the hippie scene for pure $$$ box-office draw;then this is it. I suppose if you're 'necking' a gorgeous bird in your car at the drive-in c.1968 you would notice how pointless & nihilistic the whole film is.The only reason worth watching this film is to see 'The Seeds' playing to a funeral courterge & 'The Strawberry Alarm Clock' on stage at the Avalon Ballroom.I think most of the action was filmed in 1967 so some really good bona-fide pop videos here!.
I saw psych-out a couple of days ago. I liked the feeling in it but it has an odd ending. Guess i should watch the trip aswell. Peace
Woot, found a thread for Psych Out. I love Dean Stockwell's character, Dave. "It's all just one big plastic hassle." and "There is no good or bad. Only truth." I want him.
I saw The Trip for the first time (believe it or not) last month on Encore. What a terrible movie it was. I love Peter Fonda. Heck, I love all the Fonda's, but this movie was pure garbage, and this comes from someone who has done much acid in the past and still loves shrooms.
Both movies are really good. The Trip was a very educational video for me, while Psych-out was more about the Haight-Ashbury/hippie lifestyles for me.
