Who ever thought of this bullshit idea for each employee to have to write their own evaluation should be strung up by their self important lazy asses.

I feel that this practice is lame and I have to have to come up with ways to say how good I am at my job and how I am going to improve over the next year. It's bullshit!!!! I mean Hell, it's not like I am even going to get a raise or a bonus for that matter. We have been on a wage freeze and my company cries poor when it comes to bonus time. Hell, they can't even come up with a bonus program that they don't change like three times so that you can't even get a bonus. The other bullshit thing about that is that unless all departments meet the standards in order to get a bonus then we don't get a bonus at all. I mean, why should my preformance be judged by what other people do. I fucking hate my job sometimes. I know we all do from time to time but this place can really suck!

Sorry for the rant, as you can see I am pissed about this.....this....fucking bullshit!

I have to do these at my job also-can't stand it. Some HR group came up with this years ago and it's tilted toward management.

I've explained to them that I should do this AFTER I get their review so everyone in management can see my thoughts about their review of me.

I'm very good at my job-everyone knows it. I'll rate myself with the multiple choice questions but I always leave the essays blank.

Yeah self evaluations are bad I have to give myself one after 3 months at my second job. But my site director is also supposed to give me one to for comparison to see if we are on the same page as far as our views on my work. Which I guess makes a little more sense than just a self eval alone.

What if you catch them off guard and put down "I'm a god damn terrible employee, I don't know why you people still even pay me". I don't think they'd know what to do, maybe they'd get such a laugh out of it they'd give you a raise

*the above advice should most likely not be followed*

Where I work the employee review program is used strictly as a means of justifying the denial of raises and bonuses- which aren't coming down the pike anyway. It has been years since I've been asked to participate in this transparent charade which is promised as an annual event to unwitting new employees.

It helps to process the work place for whai it really is- a means of generating revenue for the owners and stockholders and does not serve to employ anyone. the laws in Ct are such that at least with smaller companies, you can be fired for any reason including no reason- we had to sign an agreement/acknowledgment of that contingent upon our employment. My job security is inextricably linked to my ability to produce significantly more work than what I'm being paid for and each day I clock in I am essentially marketing myself anew.

Too bad employees couldn't be asked to evaluate management.

The funny thing is that I was working on it and had to try very hard not to be a dick. I would often type somthing along those lines, not that I am a bad employee, but that I would say something in a very negative way and I would have to go back and erase it. I should not be typing this when I am so pissed off about it, however, my "boss" just sent it to us this morning and it's due on Monday. Another reason I am pissed is because my boss does this kind of shit all the time, last minute crap.

AMEN Brother! Yup. It's about the same here. The worse thing about it is that most of the employees are Union, which I am not directly over as I am in Sales, but they get away with murder and yet I have to work a huge amount of hours just to get my job done.

Instead of handing in your evaluation just get a picture of yourself framed that says "Employee of the year" On it and hand that in instead.
