A year probation and 1,000$ in fines

For having only a teeny bud on me.
Wasn't high, HADN'T been for about 4 days.
I was only keeping it hidden and on my person.
Little did I know that some asshole would rat me out to the school, who would then have to call the cops aaaaand you see where that led...AFTER about 3 months of dealing with the court.
(do I need to say that I toked like MAD those 3 or so months that I had left of freedom?)

The reason for posting this thread is that I've come to realize while on probation that there are HUNDREDS of hard drug users, wife abusers and just straight-up dead beats flooding this system of "correction," while the first-time offending, high school graduate with a good head on her shoulders gets fucked on a daily basis.
But wait. Why? This happens becaaaaause?

Because it's bull shit that I'm even on the list in the first place!
And even the probation officers, police officers and attorneys know it.
What is wrong with our justice system?
Why are you spending money trying to "correct" those that don't need it.

I know that my P.O. is so busy tending to the needs of dangerous alcoholics and fiending crack heads, that she can't spare a moment to return my phone call telling her that I will miss my appointment with her because I am in the hosptal.
She THEN threatens to send me to jail because I didn't report.
Make sense?
Nah.
I mean, if they just took me off of this crutch, they would have more time to worry about things that need to be worried about!

This thread ended up being ranty and kind of randomly put together.
Anyone have input as to why marijuana is still illegal, and why even authority figures know that it's insane to be in this much trouble for something as lovely as herb?
My grammar is awful, but it's 3 in the morning so cut me some slack.

 

Just go in there and tell the bitch to give you the jail time, if it's really that small a quantity, how long could the sentence be? They used "Scared stiff" tactics on you is all. Now they'll keep you dancing like a monkey on their string for a whole damn year.
Just do the time, and be cool while your in, depending on where you're at it could actually be fun.
Be sure to make casual mention of how you're looking forward to learning the finer points of Breaking and entering, grand theft auto and Crystal Meth production while you in.
And stress that of course you would rather be focusing on getting into college, the skills you learn in the bighouse will have a much quicker return without all those pesky student loans to pay off, and hell it may lead you to the perfect solution to funding your college education in the long run.

Haha. I WANTED jail time for sure!
The only reason I'm riding it out is because it will be off of my record when I'm all done.
So I'll just bite my tongue and deal with bull shit until then.
But yeah, I thought the jail time sounded like a sweet experience to have before I die! Ooh well, maybe someday.

 

sounds like a shitty situation indeed. it's a real shame how much crap they're putting you through for something so insignificant.

nevertheless, bringing weed to school is, as you now know, a really terrible idea. about half of the posts in this forum are high school kids getting busted for this exact reason...there should be a big fat sticky at the top of this forum that says "DON'T BRING WEED TO SCHOOL. EVER."

 

The US is so fucked about drugs...mad kids were caught with weed when I was in highschool and they usually just called their parents to come pick them up and suspended them for a few days. Only if they thought you were selling would the cops come, and chances are you'd end up with little more than a fine if they actually booked you.

 

i know that in texas under 2oz is a misdemeanor, I seriously doubt you had that much weed at school. I'm sure other states have similar laws. I don't think a misdemeanor on ur record is gonna screw up ur life too bad. Lots of people have them. Now I am in sortof the same boat your in dealing with bullshit, but mine is for felony possession so I want to keep that off my record for sure.

Dang, i'm on the same and have realized the same stuff. little bit of weed and a pipe and a year of probabtion and a $1200 fine, ouch. 6 months have just about gone by.

 

Some states have harsher laws for MJ possession than others. Here in Assbackwards-bible Thumping/Fucking-Conservative Asshole-Christian-Overran Alabama, if you are caught with 2.2 lbs. OR LESS (meaning as little as a roach or even seeds) then you goto jail. Never ever ever ever live in AL if you can help it.

Agreed. I'll never live there, or anywhere else in the midwest/south. Never. And not just for harsh mj laws and their conservative views, but also because there isn't shit for me to do in a lot of those states. Give me mountains, rivers and snow and I'm a happy man...

 

It will not be off your record I don't care who said so. Same shit happened to me.
I did 1 year and 7 months probation ALL SO IT WOULD BE OFF MY RECORD.
Fuck the system and fuck the police.

 

i got ARRESTED and put into jail in a DECRIMINALIZED city over 3 grams and papers

my sentence will probably be 20 hours community service and 2 years of probation

What would the charges be like for underage possession of alcohol be like? Probably far less severe right?

 

depends, if you did something while under the influence of alcohol, then you would be fucked. but i do know people who have also been fucked with possession of alcohol. Friend of mine got his drivers licence taken away for like a year for alcohol possession, but i guess that might be better than probation or whatever. and i don't know the cercumstances of his arrest.
