How can i get thin dreads?

Well i do not have African textured hair and i am thinking of getting dreadlocks. I know anyone can get dreadlocks but they're is a specific type of dreadlocks i want, i want really thinned and twisted dreadlocks but i have read that you need African textured hair for this method. Is this true, is there anyway that i can get it. By the way i am Sri Lankan with curly hair.

I know non afro hair people with very thin locks. if you section your hair into tiny sections, maybe 1/2 in x 1/2 in or smaller, backcomb and then crochet, you too can have thin locks. but unless you have naturally nappy hair, your locks will never look quite like that. sorry bro.

To get thin dreads you have to make them by hand. Correct me if im wrong.
