So looking back I started to wonder.
I was younger in 1999 so i really didn't know too much about computers.
But now that I do, the notion that a change in date to one that ends in 00 resulting in total system failure......maybe globally, causing power failures and simultaneous airplane crashes in addition to all of the earth's nuclear weapons accidental deploying................Well I have never heard a more stupid thing in my life.

So my question is...Who started these rumors?

How did they convince so many people of this?

What sort of press confirmed or catalyzed it?

Was there actually any backing? or was it purposeful deception to make people buy more bottled water?

    Me.
I posted it on the internet, everyone believed me.
Then the press stole my ideas.
My mom bought like 30 containers of cranberry juice cocktails in order to prepare for end times.

The backing was that some computers weren't programmed past 1999.

What sort of press confirmed or catalyzed it?
Really, if anything, it's far worse now.

How did they convince so many people of this?
You haven't figured out that the majority of people are fucking retarded yet? Lady Gaga. Fox News. iFart.

nice round numbers don't come up often on calenders so SOMETHING dramatic has to happen on them, right? WRONG!

but they're so tempting and obvious. it's just about inevitable someone will every time.
maybe in the year 2020 no one will need to wear glasses.

see what i mean? now we've got more loonacy to look forward to when year after next turns about to be mostly just another one.

oh and 2032 that ought to be a good one.

and of course 2112 and 2666 and ...

yes. i did. not entirely. but the date. yes.
and after that one misses, you just KNOW someone will come up with yet another.

people WANT there to be end of the world predictions, so they can use them as excuses for pretending nothing they do makes any difference, when in reality, what each of us does, adds up together, to make ALL of the difference.
