You know, because North Korea isn't insane enough. North Korea is fascinating, most "communist" regimes are just normal regimes that are oppressive. North Korea is like something out of a dystopian book, yet it's actually happening right here, right now. So as of this week, for a week's length, all trade in North Korea has been banned until the new bills come out. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article6940482.ece So North Koreans are officially even more fucked now. The little money they had saved up is about to go out the window. The actual amount they'll get is only about $50, as officially the won trades at 135 to the US dollar, but in reality on the black market it's about 3,000 to the dollar. Life savings gone in an instant, with impending food shortages(well more severe then they are now) expected by spring. North Koreans greatly rely on the black market often for simple goods and food but nearly any money they didn't already have in dollars or yen is worthless. In more crazy North Korean news, North Korea can only watch the world cup if North Korea wins: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/new...ld-Cup-coverage---unless-North-Korea-win.html
Yeah, control freaks for sure! I think it would be the same here if we citizens were not armed to the teeth, and ready to fight.
"According to one report however, North Korea backtracked on some aspects of the revaluation following a riot by market traders which led to 12 executions" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Korean_wŏn#2009_revaluation http://online.wsj.com/article/SB126029137357982133.html
Wow that is horrible, North Korea is horrible.. I recently read the book "escaping north korea" by Mike Kim... It opened my eyes to the extent of which north koreans are suppressed, tortured, malnurished, and killed on an everyday basis. I only hope we can continue to bring this to to peoples attention and hopefully one day free the people of North Korea from such tyranny. The United States invaded Iraq, vietnam, afghanistan, and countless other countries that are certainly oppressive & dangerous but not to the same extent as North Korea.. It really shows that our government only uses force when its in their best interests & not anyone elses.. If we opposed so many other moderately communist countries, how can we not have a huge problem as a country with the North Korea situation?
Simple, China/North Korea. Despite the vast age of North Korea's weaponry they still do have numerous good weapons, along with chemicals weapons and thousands of missiles at this second pointed at Seoul in South Korea. Also if we invaded North Korea, China as an act of saving face would be forced to intervene, beginning a war in which hundreds of thousands, if not millions, in either a direct or proxy war between 2 nuclear powers, would die.
kim jong could just make a filthy cobalt bomb, detonate it in his own county and pollute the entire globe for a long long time..
That's fucked!! Hopefully Obama doesn't try to do that to this country! j/k, but I know he'd like to. There was a show on discovery or something where some doctors from Sweden or somewhere in Europe went to Pyongyang and cured a bunch of people with cataracts or something that was caused by a lack of decent nutrition, of course caused by kim jong il. Basically, blind Koreans and foreign doctors. And it was an easy procedure, supposedly, to give them sight. And I don't know if anybody thanked the doctors, but everyone thanked the great leader. What an asshole. I'll bet those Korean footballers get to Africa and say "I'm not going home! Fuck that!!" Me, personally, I wouldn't show up to the first game. I'd be GONE!!! (Actually, I love Cape Town, and the area down the cape, beautiful area.) Once they see what capitalism and the free market is like they will be tempted, and it would be nice if more people in this country knew what they were throwing away to Obama.
In a proper communist society there should be little black market, because instead of trying to shut it down, the government tries to compete with it. Just sayin. They're pretend commies, the real point is to keep everyone on the same GOOD level, not the same shitty level. Just being on the same level is not the only requirement of communism, the government must be working for the good of the people.
