I think the most important part is to get away from any peer pressure that might make you smoke. Most of my close friends smoke cigarettes, some a pack a day some only occasionally. After smoking on and off for my first year in college I decided that first of all cigarettes were getting to expensive and second, they just sucked. I still smoked them here and there for a while but then one day I had a nearly full pack of Camel filters and just decided to throw them in the garbage. Having the will power to throw away a $7 pack of cigarettes did it for me. I still had a cigarette on my birthday but that's about it.
Do a pro/con list. Cigaretts cost unessesary money, kill you after a costly hospitalisation, subject you to freeze your ass off to smoke if you live a cold area, smell bad, create a fire hazard, can deter potential love interests, what else? But they look cool, are fun to smoke, can attract potential love intersts, totally chill you out when all that other stuff is kicking in, you might get a ciggarett break when non smokers can't say they need something that bad. I tried don't buy or bum them. It was a long progression. I also tried doing push ups whenever i thought i wanted to smoke. Now that didn't last too long. Also remenber, the craving is induced by the nicoteen. You are feeling the effect of the drug in the abcence of it. Is the craving that bad or can you learn to enjoy that sensation as much as smoking itself. Good luck because that smoking is a strong draw.
The closest I ever came to quitting was when I stopped smoking cig's and instead switched to using my lil' brass Proto-Pipe for tobacco. Went from smoking 2 pouches of Drum a day to where 1 pouch would last me 4 to 5 day's. Had life not gotten crazy for me then I think I might have quit altogether. That Cigarrest kit they sell at walgreens was pretty helpful too. Not too concerned with quiting anymore as I no longer work in an Industrial environment which is what had me thinking of it before, just way too many pollutants and shitty air quality in factories. I think getting out of the Industrial maintenance field was by far the more health-minded decisions of the two. :cheers2:
Money will no longer matter when you die. Who say's prolonged life is a good thing? Gives a reason to get up/stretch and get fresh air. Works great as a natural selection re-enforcer. Can deter potential time waster lovers/people who wont like you for you, but for matching some ideal of theirs. They look extremely cool, are incredibly fun to smoke, are a great conversation starter/way of getting to know other cool people/bonding. Its even more fun while on other shit, such as alcohol and cocaine. You get to enjoy your delicious smoke while watching others fiddle about and try to figure out something to do with their hands on break... And the biggest reason to smoke, is so you do not become a fag. The faggiest people i know are non smokers. Cigarettes, i miss them.
Yes! Fulfills much of the same criteria, minus the stink/nicotine buzz and the fact that it does not come in convenient packs of 20. Also, ever since i quit, i have had a pack of parliaments in a old memories/priceless shit box underneath my bed... I take em out every once in a while, brings a smile. Good stuff, also a reminder. *begins handing out e-cigarettes to everyone*
i stopped buying them. now, if i really need a cig, i'll ask a friend. but those 'needs' are far and few between. smoking kind of disgusts me now.
yeah joint will help you. Im not even a big supporter of weed, but joint will definitelly help you quit smoking. Also, If you dont have smokes, cuz you cant afford them, dont ask your friends to give you any. your body can get rid of all the nicotine in about 3 days, then its just habit whatever you do after that. I havent quit yet, but I play this head game with cigarettes for the past year, and looks like I finally started making progress. I only smoke 2-3 a day, and when I buy a pack, I can make it last two-three days, like wow. I just hate bumming smokes tho, I just hate doing that....
Yeah, I've been planning it out over the year, I figure I've had enough so why not? A friend of mine said she just quit one day just like that. I might as well not let a no-good cancer causing plant that doesn't get me high do me in.
I smoked a pack a day for 4 1/2 years. I started smoking cigs, ironically enough, to quit smoking weed. I quit 2/12/07 using the patch and weed. I used the 21mg patch for a week, the 14mg patch for 2 weeks, and the 7 mg patch for almost 2 weeks. When you take off the 7mg patch after the 2 weeks you don't even notice. I also had visions of storming the Altria Group HQ and gutting the board of directors with a katana and another one of Durham being firebombed. Hate gives you motivation. The patch only takes care of the physical part - your mind has to be strong..it is too easy to find an excuse for a cig. I love the foolios smoking cigs while wearing the patch. Benefits: People who smoke weed and cigs always complain of weed smoke being too harsh and fucking up their lungs after awhile. This only happens to cig smokers...I could take 15 bongs rips in a row and not have any trouble. Save money and use to buy better drugs. No insecurity about smelling like an ashtray. Do not have to leave interesting situations and fun that is happening indoors (such as a club or party) to go outside and smoke a cig. Every once in awhile you can just reflect and feel happy that you are a former cig smoker.
My dude told us the other day how his friend said the same...except to punch him in the back of the head.He had to do it a few times
There is no planning it out. Like there is no past or future. There is only the present. And every single choice you make. First, cut back. Deny yourself a cig when you want it. And move on...Go at your own pace you don't have to do it cold turkey. But you have to make PROGRESS. You know you can do this!
Also don't become a faggot with the patches and other bullshit... Shit like that supports the retard market. You don't need it, trust me. Just stopping is all it takes. Also, may want to try exercise, after 2-3 weeks of no smoking you may begin to enjoy running etc - i did.
