I'm thinking about tunnels in my ears. Anyone know what the process is and how much it costs on average? I can do pain, but how does it work? Do they just cut a big hole, or make a small one and stretch it over time?
tunnels tunnels, do you mean stretches, gauged ears or expansions? cause if that is so you can go different ways, pierce and then stretch, many people say that you shouldnt move more than one gauge at a time, but I say up to 6g is safe for most people on the first stretch maybe even 4g , or if you are that impatient there are some piercers which whill cut to get you up to a 0g or higher in the first stretch
i played it the safe way. i had my ears pierced for sometime. When i decided to stretch my ears, i stretched them one gauge at a time and waited about a month or so. it is kinda costly if you buy tapers(the cone shaped earrings) to stretch them, and the tunnels/plugs. I didn't use tapers untill i hit 4g, i just pushed the earring through with lots of polysporin. but my ears have horribly bad elasticity.
if you get a bit punched out, it's a lot less likely to shrink back if you ever decide you're sick of it lots of ky jelly (or whatever other lubricant) and a taper is your best bet, i don't know about gauges but i stretched safely up to 6mm the first time (my skin seems to handle stretching pretty well though so pay attention to what your body is telling you), left them for around a month then went up to 8mm, then to 12mm another month later that was 8 years ago and i've successfully shrunk back down to 6mm at one stage and am stretching back up now to accomodate some new jewelry i've found
Start at 12g or 10g, and wait a month or two in between stretches, especially when you get up to and beyond 2g. Your ears are more likely to shrink back if you take care of them and don't stretch too fast. Getting them punched greatly reduces the probability of your ears stretching back to the size you want or originally had.
Thanks y'all. I understand better now. And sorry, mastercylinder for wasting your time... maybe you could pray to the google god for more time. lol
This. I'd get pierced at yeah, 14g or 12g. It'll be at LEAST two months before you can start stretching. It's just a really slow process. Coming from somebody who tore a lobe because she was a 14 year old retard and skipped sizes, don't skip sizes. My right lobe is now stuck at 7/16". It took over a WEEK to jump it from 00g to 7/16" because of the scar tissue, and now won't shrink back. Every month or so, depending on yr body, you should be able to size up, get tapered jewelry [not wood or bone or any other organic material - bad for stretching] and some kinda lube [I usually just soap up the jewelry with antibacterial soap, two birds, one stone] and slowly put 'em in. It shouldn't hurt a LOT. If it does, stop. Yr ears aren't ready. Weighted jewelry is also really good for prepping to stretch. I had really heavy SS helixes in my ears, and when it came time to stretch, there was really nothing to stretch, the weight had gradually pulled them into the next size.
I had my ear pierced for about 10 years before I stretched, I went up to 5 mm in the first week just pushing the taper thru bit by bit each day and then I had a plastic 5 mm tunnel that I wraped electrical tape round it every 3/4 days, went up to about 10 mm then stopped for a month or 2 then continued up untill 20mm (about 00g I think) after about 4 months, just don't try stretch it too much just a little at a time
what everyone said is pretty right but just make sure you wait the right amount of time to stretch your ears. Some people will tell you only wait 2-3 weeks. And some people will tell you to wait around 5-7 months in between stretches. Once I got to 00 I waited 6 months each size and my ears are very healthy looking and am glad that I did that.
You deffinatley dont have to wait months in between stretching. i got my ear pierced at 14 g, got 12 g just by sticking in a bigger earring, had that for a while then i believe i tapered to 8g. it was fine. after a while of having it at 10 g the earring just gets naturally loose. from 8 i went to like 6 i think i had the 6 for like 2 weeks or something then 4 then to 2 in like a week. i dont really remember how i did it anymore but i know i went up really fast. id taper to one size, wait a few days so it loosens up a bit, then taper to the next size. now im at 2g. i need to get my other ear pierced. my parents wouldnt let me get both ears when i got my ears pierced. now they want me to get the other one because its not balanced... (same reason i wanted 2 in the first place) anyway. yeah. need to go do that some time. i plan on going to 00 probably. i hear that 2 to 0g is the worst...
Even if it feels like it's alright, it doesn't do any harm to wait. Stretching too fast can build up scar tissue, which will make later stretching a BITCH, and will impair yr skin's ability to close up, should you decide to downsize. Dead stretching can cause blowouts and gnarly ass keloids. If you want to have stretched ears, patience is a virtue; you run the risk of seriously screwing yrself up otherwise.
i know it doesnt hurt to wait, im just saying it didnt hurt not wait for me. My hole closes up fine for me. One time my tunnel fell out while sleeping and i couldnt get it back in, in the morning. Deffinatley dont over stretch with a taper though. My friend blew out his ear going to 7/16th like that... ( he went from 00g i think, with out a taper).
