It's been 2 1/2 months of neglect and two days ago i felt my first baby dready starting. I've got a long long way to go. My hair has started separating and i haven't tried but i doubt i could put my hand through the back of it. Just wondering how long it took some of you guys before you really started seeing progress.

my hair started dreading after about a week and a half on the road of not brushing it... after a month it felt like a tree trunk was growing out of the back of my head... then i decided to get the rest of my head dreaded and have someone help me seperate the back... it was painful.... dont worry tho.. you will get there in good time but if you want to speed up the process just dread your hair

It just varies, depending on length and type of hair. At a rough guess somewhere from about eight monts to over a year you should start to see real progress. But really it can vary a lot from person to person. If you haven't already, check out this guys timeline. That might help you get an idea.

When I tried neglect my hair just didnt tangle, not much anyway, I saw little progress even after I started off with wool rubbing. I backcombed and I noticed decent progress at 4-5 months, before that, shit

Regardless of what anyone says, total neglect is VERRRRY slow and I think the extreme wait causes a lot of people to give up on their dreads. I see absolutely nothing wrong with helping your hair dread.

I think mine are at about 6 or 7 months and in the last few weeks there has been an amazing amount of progress. You definitely need patience though!

It sounds like you are seeing progress if you notice baby dreads??

Keep it up, though. Do not think of the end results but the path it will lead you :)

i've been "doing" neglect for a while (at least 4 months?) and theres not a whole lot of dreading going on. theres some curly soft thingees that bunch together in little baby lock things. i kinda like it.

7 months to a year depending on your hair type?
