Indeed but to use words in new and interesting ways you do need an intuitive grasp of their proper contexts and usage. In the case of "impress" this would have initially been used metaphorically, and through repetition of its metaphorical application the word has developed its own new and distinct homonymous meaning.

yup. Look at some of the slang terms that came out of the 60s (or any slang) that are in the dictionary now.

 

I completely agree, I was figuring this kid was 11 or so. How can you write "coz" in a poem basicly using internet slang and think in any way it sounds good? It could probably be used half decently but it made it look like horrible shit in this poem.

If you can't differentiate between the two poetry & prose then who are you to coment...
It was also writen in the frame of mind of a soldier who has had all he can take. Fighting another persons war in another persons land, risking his life for another persons freedom. and then being penalised for what he is doing

 

If i wrote in a Lancashire dialect only people from Lancs would understand it.

it shows that bravesirdobin should take heed of his own dictatorship and get a grasp of English, grammar and spelling before slagging anyone else off...And its not a PM its a post where he was slagging off yet another member

 

My only question is why bring this up into the public when this is something clearly just between you and him.

No its between him and all the others he slaggs off for no legitimate reason. Reading his work for example his Untitled 1 He should take heed of the GUIDE LINES he gives ref to ........not that i give a shit realy cos i know he is no better than those he slates......and I like a good debate (like on this thread). all in fun realy
