I just checked it out. two turbocharged v8's? That's intense. But all that power in an automatic transmission? Might as well be driving a sports car in a dress.

second fastest production car on earth.

it gets to redefine what a dress IS.

edit: I should say more clearly.... That'd be like you calling george foreman in his prime a sissy because he fought wearing boxing gloves....

I wasn't denying the speed. My initial point was automatics are for women. (and cab drivers.)

If I were going to buy a jerk off fantasy car, I'd buy something with a little less engine than that. A V12 would probably drop 700 pounds off my car. It'll handle much better, at a modest top speed of 204. And I could get it in stick.

You know, there is a reason the people who designed the veyron chose the design they did (they're engineers, they know what they're doing)

Also, it's a european sports car, it's not all about power, but also agility, and ride.

there are absolutely american muscle cars with more raw horsepower, but their weight to power ratios, drag ratios, gear efficiencies, etc. just not there.

The SSC Ultimate Aero is a stick shift, but you have to be driving it on a perfect day, in near perfect conditions to get it to it's top speed, and they are also less favorably reviewed in terms of drive quality, and reliability.

The veyron is also a 4wd, which also bears a weight penalty, but from what I understand, is meant to improve drive quality immensely.

the SSC is a rear wheel drive, and even in regular cars, I hate rear wheel drive (recognizing that it is a tradition of american sports cars to be rear wheel drive, it's just fucking irritating)

I'd go for a hot rodded K-car before the el camino

that IS my hillbilly streak, and I don't care.

I would also go for a 1960-1969 pontiac bonneville, COMPLETELY rebuilt, modern chassis, carbon fiber body, with a V-12, over any of this shit, and since you're doing it anyway, make the bitch a coupe.....

that would be a fuckin' CAR

The koenigsegg is a VERY nice car, I still can't find that czech car I fell in love with a couple of years ago, thing has an incredibly low drag ratio through it's range of speeds.
