Exactly. Our president isn't a dictator or a king. He's an elected official that attaches gis signature to the bills so they become law.

You know what would be the best way to make it to where US involvement in war a VERY rare thing? Make it to where, like in the old days, the leader of the military (in our case, the president) has to lead the troops into battle. I cn promise you, with a law like that, any president would think twice before sending the youth of our nation into gunfire...

I think obama is better than out last president. I don't like the way conservatives try to enforce their "traditional values" on everyone else. Theres some issues that the government need not be involved in.

I agree with that statement 100%. But, Obama is much worse about getting involved in our personal issues than Bush was, or any other president. Now, Bush was anti-drug (except for his own usage) and anti-abortion. But Obama is getting involved in way too much shit. Bush never would have gotten involved in that fiasco with the cop and the professor. That was completely retarded and Obama acted stupidly. And Obama's meddling with the banks and the car companies. Didn't he fire the CEO of GM. Isn't that for the stockholders or maybe a board of trustees to do. All these actions have the consequences that the are fucking up are economy.

The government currently is the largest stockholder of GM(about 64%) because of the fact GM would no longer exist without billions in government dollars.

And Bush started fucking with the banks, TARP was his program

The dems would be moderate compared to most countries, both the dems are more to the right then most left wing parties in other countries, and the reps are generally even more to the right then other right wing parties.(Smaller parties in some parliamentary systems that are very far left/far right excluded)

Fawkes. You're like my old friends that I've known for decades. They are all republicans and there's just no way to talk politics with them because their basic beliefs are much differant than mine. There's nowhere for me to start with folks that listen to limbaugh or hannity and think that the way they look at issues is the way government/the country/the world should be run. So with all due respect,I'll pass on starting up with you.I could give you a reading list--but you wouldn't use it. I could compare the relative morality of republicans and democrats toward the working class--you'd dispute it. I could point out which party is usually in power when the economy collapses--you wouldn't accept it--so no--we're way too far apart in the basic way/s we look at the way people, especially those entrusted with the reins of government(in my opinion ) should be. I've posted my opinions and ideas plenty in here over the years. I can't make myself start over again when I know that you and I look at issues 180 degrees off. ------------------have a good new year. - Joel.

Heh, Obama and America need to revise their situation:

As much as I respect your country, he and you could be doing a lot better...

But then I don't blame Americans, I like America- I blame the pressure and sometimes the bigotry attitude of having to be more powerful than everybody else. If Obama actually played down to everybody else's political standards maybe progress would be made.

Republicans seem like idiots. I am Welsh and know not too much, but they seem like idiots.

Someone once said, "I'd be a Libertarian if they weren't a bunch of whining tax cheats." I can't remember if it was Dave Barry or the guy who used to draw Bloom County. :)

    Why?
    In what ways?

I really think that Obama's stimulus program will prolong an economic downturn. I figured that by 2012, things will be great once again as the cycle always proves to be. What a convenient time for Obama and the Democrats, they could have claimed that whatever they had done to the economy had worked. Now, I'm not too sure that we will be doing better by then. He may have screwed himself by trying to "fix" things.

If he doesn't want a few hundred dead American civilians, I suggest he wake up and realize that there are entire populations that genuinely hate America. Instead of trying to make friends, talk sternly. Unfortunately, eliminating opposition is unrealistic.

i'm real liberal on social issues, but economically i may be a bit conservative actually, I don't like how the democratic party usually tries to tax the shit out of ya but if I had to pick a party it would probably be that democrat. I don't consider myself a liberal, rather a libertarian slightly left of center
