The media is full of reports that this administration may install a cap and trade system without legislation.

I am sorry but I didn't think I was voting for GW and his executive orders that only benefitted his rich friends.

He can't force a Single Payer Health Care Plan, he can hardly even talk about one, but he will be forcing a new derivatives market on the US citizens. And we will pay higher utility prices. He may get another award (like his PEACE Nobel), but it's hard to celebrate when you are wearing three layers of clothes just to stay warm in the winter. I remember Enron, I still remember the collapse of Wall St. last year and the loss of homes and jobs for many citizens. What I don't remember is any true reform for Wall St. or big business.

No one ever gets the change they think they're voting for. I don't know why you're so surprised.

The media is sometimes full of something...if you know what I mean.
Why not just wait till it isn't in the media, and it is either a reality or not (legislation).

Judging by this, you might not have anything to worry about.

Draft climate change legislation will be presented to the US House of Representatives by 25 May, according to Representative Edward Markey, chairman of the House Energy and Environmental subcommittee.
The committee's aim, Markey said, is to complete draft legislation addressing the issue of climate change and present it to the House of Representatives by Memorial Day this year.
Speaking to delegates at the CERAWeek 2009 conference earlier this week, he said the aim was to take some kind of legislative action before the United Nations Climate Change conference in Copenhagen in December 2009. He added that any final bill should be science-based, technology-driven and consumer focused.

The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACES) is an energy bill in the 111th United States Congress (H.R.2454) that would establish a variant of a cap-and-trade plan for greenhouse gases to address climate change. The bill was approved by the House of Representatives on June 26, 2009.

This just describes the incapacity of your "vote" to effect change. The fruits of our life are the results of our own actions.

Was he in a position to do that?
    What did he grant them?
    Was it all about him?

It would appear not. All I guess he could offer anyone was:

"at least we kind of held ground and there wasn't too much backsliding from where we were."

I am kind of viewing health care reform in the same stature.

He wasn't just talking about America.
    "We" being: All those involved.

That is so true. I remember in high school when we voted for class president and I remember thinking "What is the point in all of this." Everything is the same. It ended up being a popularity contest, it might as well have been the prom king and queen vote.

I used to feel very much the same about politics, because mostly, I was in charge of my life and what happened to me was a result of what I did. I am afraid that for the first time in my life government could have a visible effect on my life. Will I have to purchase a product I don't want? Will they raise the prices on the things I do buy? Will they make some things unavailable to me, whether because I don't deserve it or by making it illegal. Will they allow someone I love to die because they are not valuable enough.

I was pleasantly surprised at the OP for some criticism of Obama. And yes Cap and Tax is going to be a disaster. Obama himself said that the price of our electricity is "Necessarily going to skyrocket."

    What an asshole.

obama is only doing what he is being told to do, just like the last "president" you had.

obama has exactly the same "advisors" as george bush

the storyline for obama's "presidency" will be the same as george's without as much criticism. imagine if george bush had sent another 30,000 to afghanistan - imagine the complaint then. obama sending these men to afghanistan doesn't provoke the same criticism.

the fifth columnists that took over the american government and sent its money, men and arms to the middle east know that there is no hope and no change. whatever government you vote in, republican or democrat is only dancing to the same tune.

some hope and some change is to make sure that democrat and republican are not voted in again until they can clean out the foreign agents from their midst.

the main thing to remember is that you can vote and you can think for yourself.
