Whe I was about 16 I was involved in a shooting. Luckily me nor my friend in the passenger seat were hit. 1 bullet hit my steering wheel, and another one ended up in the cd player. another one hit the b pillar but didnt make it through. I'm really lucky that none of those hit my head cuz they came close is fuck. Now when the cops investigated it they kept asking me what the motive was for this guy, and if it was because I owed him money for drugs. It was very obvious that they were far more interested in getting something from me that they could use to build a drug case on someone. Hey I I just had bullets go whizzing by my head and your asking if this guy deals drugs and what kind of drugs? The guy went down for it but he only got 2 years of probation, and got off in 18 months . I know people who have been caught with small amounts of drugs and got more time than that!!!! I guess the moral of the story is that shooting people isn't that big a deal, but drugs, OH NO, do drugs and we'll lock ya up for a long time cuz thats just so horrible.
I don't mean to sound like I HATE cops. technically the cops arent the problem, the government is, they tell the cops what laws to enforce. It just seems like they put the emphasis on the wrong things sometimes. Almost every day on the news i hear about someone being shot, then you never hear about them getting caught. Most of this happens in neighborhoods that I know to be mostly black and poor so the cops don't care because they are rascist. OH lets just let them kill each other so we don't have to deal with em! And yeah its pretty fucked up here in the US of A, its far from a free country.
I notice that you are in Texas. Laws and priortys vary widely from state to state. Where I live in Mass. the cops could give a fuck about small amounts of most drugs but are hyper-vigilent about guns.
It is cheaper to incarcerate drug offenders than it is to keep violent offenders. The difference is 1 guard to watch 20 druggies or 5 guards to watch 1 violent offender. The contractor for profit prison system.
1) Drugs are frequently at the bottom of shootings and other violent disruptions. Hence, a) the cops assumption(?) than drugs were involved in your shooting. b) their general aggesiveness towards drug enforcement. 2) Drug offenses frequently carry mandatory minimums. (Thank your politicians for that.) Thus the longer sentences.
1955. Some guy or guys, fired off 3 or 4 rounds at me while I was driving. They came close but no cigar. I told the cops and they said"yeah--you probably provoked it". Didn't ask me if I knew who it was or the type of car they were driving--nothing.That was the end of it.
$$$$$ The bigger the dealer they take down, the more money, cars etc. they can confiscate. This also leads to a bigger budget for the "war on drugs" that the american public has been sold. If they were sincerely concerned about controlling drugs they would legalize and regulate them, like they do with alcohol. In my town a kid can get drugs easier than alcohol. Most drug dealers don't care who they sell to. It's futile to babysit adults, if they want to do drugs they will. We should be concerned with protecting children until they are mature enough to make informed decisions. It's been over 30 years since they started "the war on drugs". Use the billions they spend on it on schools and social programs instead. It's also hypocritical that alcohol is legal and weed is not. People OD on alcohol all the time, weed won't kill you. It just makes you fat and happy.:ssmokeit::cheers2:
yep, alcohol is far more harmful to your health, and leads to far more negative and destructive behavior than weed. if anything weed should be legal and alcohol illegal. it's pretty ironic actually.
Money and politics/propaganda. More money can be pulled in through fines and property confiscation- as has already been pointed out. Drug enforcement nets law enforcement lots of press- this registers in the minds of those who vote in numbers... and have chosen to believe the anti-drug propaganda. Police Chiefs, Prosecutors, and other notable figures in the legal system who compile impressive drug related arrest tallies- particularly with hefty cash and property seizures tend to have an easier time furthering their careers. Also- marijuana would be impossible to truly control if legalized. Sure- one may think that permitting a recreational marijuana market would pay off with additional tax revenue, but just about anyone can grow their own with a certain amount of instruction... a plant that grows so readily would be impossible to control... not much tax money would be raised selling a plant that a warm body could cultivate in indoor planters... Of course there's the possible encroachment into the market territory of pharmaceutical giants- particularly those who make drugs that stimulate the appetite, OTC and prescription sleeping drugs... our good government serves corporations first... and people a very distant second. Don't believe me? Why then did the Obama Administration go back on his campaign promise to allow Americans to acquire cheaper drugs in Canada? They claim the reason was because of safety concerns but Health Canada subjects pharmaceuticals and cosmetics to at least as stringent testing as the FDA... the lying criminals in Washington, D.C. are beholding to the drug companies who desire you and me to continue to pay their outrageous profits... so Congress made sure that we're legally bound to do so. If they don't want you to pay reasonable prices crossing the border they sure as hell don't want you growing at home your best hope of breaking the dependency to the sedative you're paying through the nose for.
It kinda depends on what state you live in. Most states seem to be same on real hard drugs. But pot state from state is so different Some will try to toss a key away Some will let you go with fine Some dont care local laws dont care and I read that some instead of jail time they send you pot rehab. Main reason is so when you look at rehab stats you ll read #1 rehab person pot! And sure who would not pick rehab over long term jail. Plot to make pot look worse. Most drugs state to state have almost same for harder stuff but with pot you just never know what a town or city does in a state.
See what is fucked up is that someone that gets caught with some weed gets labelled a drug addict. Now would someone who drinks casually be labelled an alcoholic, of course not! It's fucking ludicrous!
Well most times they can't find who murdered someone in those areas because nobody cooperates. How can you expect a result when "nobody saw nothin"
Here is why it might take a while for pot to be legalized: (assuming Pharmacutical companies oppose the notion): These rich companies donate to candidates, candidates use this money for advertising. Example: Politician A: Supports legalization.......No donation, less ad time Politician B: Doesn't Support...............Large Donation, lotta ad time, average person sees. Politician C: Doesn't Support................Large Donation...lotta add time, average person sees. Therefore, the average person only thinks there are the two candidates running and chooses between the two. Although they may have differing political views, its a win win for the large corporation. Welcome to world of lobbying.
To put it simply: The cops believe that violence is an effect. Drugs are the cause. Help eliminate drugs = help eliminate violence. Whether or not this is true, I don't know, but I think that is the basic logic.
