Man, 21, died after taking ecstasy

A cystic fibrosis sufferer died after taking a powerful dose of ecstasy supplied to him by a Tyldesley man.
An inquest heard that a panicking Thomas Hodgson told pals: "I'm going to die; I don't want to die," before collapsing.

The hearing at Halifax Town Hall was told that the 21-year-old had been given the drug by Aiden Kent during an all-night drinki
ng binge at their friend Dylan Wheller's house in Rayner Road, Brighouse, West Yorkshire, on July 19 last year.

Kent, 32, of Nelson Street, Tyldesley, was jailed for 10 months earlier this year at Bradford Crown Court, after admitting supplying ecstasy.

Wheller, 28, admitted possessing the same drug and permitting his premises to be used for the supply of drugs.
He received a four-month sentence.

Mr Hodgson, a computer programmer from Heath Park Avenue, Halifax, was pronounced dead by paramedics called to Wheller's house.

The court case had been told that the three young men had split between them one gramme of MDMA powder which they had mixed with water and then drunk.

He was found, by his wife, face down on the living room floor and she rang for an ambulance.

The ecstasy was 68% pure – usual levels are in single figures – and not only did the post-mortem examination discover high levels of the drug in cystic fibrosis sufferer Mr Hodgson's body, but also that he had taken it before.

At the court case, Wheller told police he and Mr Hodgson had drunk 10 cans of lager and bitter.

He said Kent brought powdered ecstasy which they had all shared.

Police found a quantity of the drug in Kent's jacket at Wheller's home.
Kent was arrested in Wigan on July 20 2008 and admitted buying the drug for £150.

Stephen Wood, for Kent, said the consequences had been "tragic".

Judge Roger Scott said: "I have been in this job a long time and personally have never ever met a case of ecstasy at 68% purity.

Adulterated, it is one, two or, if you are lucky, three per cent.
"People have died taking that sort of strength ecstasy but you, Aiden Kent, went out and deliberately purchased a high-strength powdered form of ecstasy of 68% purity.

"You must have realised how dangerous it was to take that in that strength."

At the inquest deputy coroner Mr Paul Marks recorded a verdict of non-dependent abuse of drugs.

That really sucks, that's why I don't like to provide someone with more than one or two doses. And I advise all of my friends the dangers and risks along with asking them thier physical history and what scrips they are taking. I couldn't imagine being the person who made someone OD or die.

May he RIP, and hopefully he died in ecstasy.

i think its something like 1 in 10,000 people will react badly even to pure MDMA, maybe that was him or cur with something else.

 

So how exactly did he die? Is MDMA commonly under 10% pure? Wtf?

 

I'll tell ya I watched many "freinds die od . I was a heroin addict hard core for 8 yrs. I mean we bought 1/4 lbs of finger dope. 75%-85%pure. And the coke was better. actual flake. man , the speedballs. mmmm. But I wathed my wife die. that was like the worse feeling in the world. my kids were devastated. still are she died same day anna nicholesmith did. day after her birthday. I wasn't even suprised. sad. But hay, I been clean 6 yrs know. lucy and chems are my saviore for sure. i could not live in my skin if I hadn't delt with all that.

Nah, that's reference to all the shitty rolls that go through the court system.
They don't see molly very often, so seeing good shit comes as a shock.
Lots of stupidity shown by the 3 guys, and by the court.

 

Doesn't sound like dying in ecstasy to me guys, sounds like dying in intense panic and fear.

Dying from MDMA or something like 2ct7 would be a terrible way to go out.
So much pleasure it becomes pain...definitely not the best way to die.

I know I've experienced the parionia and fear that accompanies all drug use just as I'm sure everyone on this forum has.
don't belittle his last moments, he died in fear and you must recognize this

i blame the alcohol and the high dose (though 68% aint that pure really). dehydration can take place quickly on E.
his pre-existing condition probably played a role too.

or he might just be that 1 in 100,000. you know the risk of death per users?

thats some heavy shit on his friends and the dealer. they probably never thought their friend would pass away from pure MDMA....

 

It's pretty tripped out, to think about how many times you were on drugs and you got paranoid about something or headed into a bad trip and thought you were gonna die, but with this kid it actually happened.
Is fucked up.

 

Thats the reason i half afraid to take these pills....Shit could be laced with poison.

Ive drank on e before...It wasnt my favorite feeling...Its really sickening actually...Its back and forth from drunkness to tripping back to drunkness...it was the worst whenever i did it...I took a pill in november while drinking alot...Worst idea i ever partaked in, my mouth was like filled with a wet dryness...It was like i had salavia in my mouth but i couldnt keep myself hydrated.

 

Why the hell would you drink alcohol with ecstasy....

 

one time I only had beer (camping) and no water I took a pill and drank like 15 beers when I started to come down it was the most terrible experience of my life, thank god I was young I dont know if any older person could have went through that, maybe this guy wast in shape or perhaps the other 32% was some terrible drug, or perhaps he had alcohol poisoning
