so, our newest gig is cleaning house for a magician who's really famous everywhere but america-jan reuven-you can google him-guess he's like the david copperfield of europe-huge tv audiences in france and japan-many international awards-in person he's young looking-cute as a bug (volkswagon, he's german-lol)-rather shy and quiet-onstage he's 'the man with 9 lives'- anyway it's the most famous person i've worked for-tho i do also know one of don rickles best friends as well as the model for the cover of chichi larue's newest book...but i digress. have any of you ever worked for anyone famous? were they dreams or duds?
so, you're also the dude who claimed to be the plane hijacker. And, in answer, yes. I'm a techie. it doesn't matter, fame is transitive, and irrelevant and don rickles is a tool.
I have worked in the backstage of the Reading Festival, so I have met a few 'famous' singers. Most were really nice, but some are jackasses. Believe it or not, there are a few to many to mention, nice or nasty. I have met just a load of musicians/actors over the years whether working for them, seeing them at shows or even meeting them at fancy dinners. I have never been prone to hero worship so I never expected any treatment I am undeserving of.
I have found the majority of entertainers and athletes ive met to be either arrogant or (more often) quiet and friendly-and mostly very very dumb-they know the one area they excel in and thats it and don rickles is a very nice man and one of the best liked people in show business
I don't care at all about celebrities. I wouldn't mind meeting some of my favorite stand-up comedians, but I probably could do that if I waited after a show to see them. I saw Joe Rogan at a comedy club and I swear he looked right at me with a face that said "yeah, this guy knows what I'm talking about". I would be star struck if I ever met Owsley, Scully, or Sand though.
