Is it an accurate portrayal of Reno?

More than you'd think for what it is. so, my proper answer is, not exactly, but almost. (typed fifteen minutes from the reno arch, wherein there lie the ashes of one of my mother's former co-workers mother's because she was a gambling addict, and her son fulfilled her wishes, broke onto the construction site, and dumped her ashes into the masonry....)

The same as every pop culture answer, I would be willing to bet. Is Spike Lee a proper description of Brooklyn, or Scorcese of Little Italy, Queens, or The Bronx?

I don't understand this.

I thought Kundun was a great movie, but the story clearly has a very Scorcese spin on it.

 

I had a grand mal seizure in front of a sparks police officer, (sparks was almost east reno, about 2000 votes made the difference) police officer asks my mom if she needs any help

she says "yes, can you help me get him to the car"

he does nothing

she finally managed to get me to the car (apparently I'd managed to get away a few times and kept trying to finish the run I was doing) he asked her again (he definitely heard her the first time, he just didn't do anything, or reply)

she asked him to open the car door so she could get me in without me escaping again (I was post ictal, I didn't know what was going on, apparently if I hadn't been concussed, bleeding, and trying to run into traffic it would have been hilarious)

he just stood, about five feet from her, watching.

mom is REALLY pro cop.

she is very anti reno\sparks cop.... they're all tools

also, reno is filled with methheads, prostitutes, batshit crazy people, and idiots who think they are famous when they are really nobodies.

 

I desperately want to go to Reno now.

I don't know. I'm not really a big fan of people coming together to celebrate things...I'm more of a "watching people in their natural surroundings" type.

 

the thing about burning man is, that exists, because it's a week long.

it's just.... it's what they REALLY want their natural environment to be. what their natural environment should be

I can relax in BRC, I can hug in BRC, I can be close to other people in BRC, whereas I cannot out here. it is the most natural I ever feel, and SO many of BRC's denizens feel the same way, it is home, they even say "welcome home" when you enter the city.

it is something that you must experience

What is BRC?

I'm not only afraid of people coming together to celebrate things, I'm also afraid of people coming together under the premise that they have all in common.

That's why I don't go to Communist Party meetings.

it's not an all in common thing though (black rock city btw)

there are so many different communities that it works, the ravers have their thing, the sex fiends have heir thing, the pyros have their thing, the spiritual people have their thing, the right wing militant wackjobs have their thing, hippies have theirs, and it just, works.

The only thing in common is the city.
