High school drug culture and the standard user

I started smoking pot halfway through freshman year, with some friends from the play I'd been doing lighting for. Out of a tinfoil pipe. It was 4 people on a gram, and I didn't feel that high. I tried again regardless, and the rest is history. In my experience, a majority of the people I've interacted with since then have absolutely no fucking idea what they're talking about when it comes to drugs. In a population that uses the internet to the extent that they do and does drugs to the extent that they do, the level of ignorance is shocking..
The first time I made a batch of pot cookies that I sold, most people just couldn't wrap their heads around the idea that pot could be eaten in any way except brownies. That's all they'd ever seen in movies.
When I got into psychedelics, if I hadn't been an intelligent user who takes advantage of the internet, I'd probably be just like them. I'd probably believe about the dude who "smoked a hit of acid and saw unicorns and shit" just like most of the other people that talk to him...
The scariest is the lack of informed choices when dealing with pills. Ive heard people say they took like 350 mgs of oxy, probably cause they took one 5 and saw the amount of aspirin in it. Ive had friends take pills they knew were some sort of drug, but werent exactly sure. I've seen people take bunk pills that look vaguely like xanax, and couldve been easily identified with 2 seconds of online research, and think they got fucked up. I just know one of these kids are gonna end up with an oxy 80 someday.
Every single place I've visited, whether it's Boston, Florida, or just half an hour away on the border of NYC state (I'm in Jersey) I've gotten 2g dubs. I've never seen any bag in my town bigger than a gram sold for 20 bucks. I've even seen .3 dimes...
SO. In older user's experiences, do these people stay retarded their whole lives? Or does high school just suck....

 

Those kids sound like fags to me man. I'm your age and none of my friends are that dumb.........

first: high school sucks.
second: use the internet to your advantage, and print shit out for reference, for when "THEY" try to take the internet away.
third: you will find a good trustworthy dealer, or you will grow your own as an adult. you're almost there!

also, keep in mind that mental connections that are unused during these years will deteriorate. i spent HS reading, learning about survival, cooking, and learning about everything i could. by studying everything i could get mey hands on, i kept those connections fresh. my hubby is no dummy, but he did not keep all those connections fresh (he had family issues in HS, has more drugs under his belt, etc) and has more of the street wise connections remaining, plus those things he is interested in. so new things and information has to force a new connection. so use as much of your brain as you can, it may be all you have someday.

and some people do stay retarded their whole lives. how unfortunate, because its such a pain to break it off with stupid friends who dont understand why you no longer want to hangout with them.

 

I hate when people speak for others. I'm in high school and I'm lovin' every minute of it!

 

maybe if the schools had a sensible way to teach kids about drugs instead of "just say no"

i knew a lot of people like that in hs, which is probably why i didn't take drugs then. i know a lot of them are still stuck in the same deadbeat town hanging out behind the high school, years after they graduated/were kicked out.

 

There were a good amount of kids like that in high school..doing psychedelics and whatnot just to get fucked up and not realizing the whole purpose behind then.Then you had the typical kids who fucked with pills and became losers.I'm sure at least half of them are the same.I thought high school sucked.

 

Well first off that was a good post, it was well thought out and intelligently written.

Second, the world is full of dumb people of every age.

Third, keep yourself informed and try to spread the knowledge but don't let other peoples lack of knowledge discourage you, just look at it as an opportunity to inform someone who hasn't taken the opportunity to do so (if they wanna learn that is)

Unfortunately there are lots of people out there who just throw things into their bodies just to get high without making any conscious effort to see what the effects (both positive and negative) will be on their body. These people will always be there and it's just something you learn to deal with.

 

The people that choose to educate themselves on drugs are the ones that will most likely do drugs their whole life and rarely become addicted to things like cocaine, heroin, and meth.

All the uninformed users are either attempting to appease their peers or just prefer to be intoxicated with no regard for their health. They are generally very hard to educate because they hate all forms of education.

The difficult part is finding like minded friends. One of my best friends does a fair amount of reading but has no shame in asking about something I might be more familiar with. Those that run their mouth when spewing bullshit should be ignored. You won't get anywhere with them, I am of the view it is better for the gene pool to let them OD on something due to their ignorance.

I have never had a dealer that is extremely knowledgeable about drugs but most have been quite honest and at least knew the products they sold.

 

I'm with a freshman right now, (dads friends son), and I toldem I was gonna go light up and he said a friend told him when you smoke it you don't know where you are.

That's the only drug knowledge he has, other than hearin the names of other drugs.

ALL OF THIS. While reading this thread, specific people popped into my head that fill these categories. pathetic.

 

lol, high school was messed up... i went to 3 different doctors and got 3 different narcotics from each...

oxycodone and methadone from one
xanax from another
and ritalin from another

i smoked weed twice a day for nearly every day of high school... and instead of hating it or loving it. i was pretty numb to the whole experience.

they tell me i should have died...

but i graduated 35th in my class of 200, with a gpa of 3.9, and 5.2 weighted gpa. and i was the yearbook editor.


highschool = drugs are good. erowid is your friend. your friends are just moochers. and your dealer is probably ripping you off.

I know people who smoked themselves silly. It's a shame, some of them were somewhat intelligent. Now all they know is pot. It was their choice though.
