Since I moved, I'm hanging out with a crew that's a little younger than me (not to mention most of you in the forums)...

I went to the party yesterday, and I'm definitely feeling like the old uncle. I'm dancing, but prudishly most of the time, checking up on everyone, the soberest, fittest, and most overdressed of the whole set...

I'm sipping whisky, and everyone is doing shots and beer.

I don't even look at girls, the 20-somethings appear intimidated or turned off by my cold demeanor, everyone else is hooking up.

    It's really weird...

For that reason, I decided I need to get some mojo and I'm going to get a prostitute. I almost did earlier, except I couldn't wait long to orgasm.

Edit: Of course, I thought of calling up to see if everyone got home safe. But, SO FAR, I'm hanging tough.

At least you get out to parties! I can't even remember the last time I went to one.

It had been a little while for me, too. Although, I frequent dive bars fairly often.

I think now I'm averaging once out of every week and a half. I limit myself to two dose of whisky and maybe a beer.

Why don't you get out more?

Have you considered that this lifestyle might not be for you any longer?

I live up in the mountains... honestly there aren't really that many places to get out to (other than nature of course)

I do like to go to dive bars though. I spend a lot of time at "The Alibi"

It isn't. But, at the same time, I feel like socializing often.

    And I do enjoy dancing.

Edit: I also don't party enough anymore to consider it a "lifestyle", though it once was precisely that.

That's a great name for a dive bar. [IMG]

Yeah, but to be honest, I rarely go/have gone to parties where I could really dance my ass off, because I'm fairly picky about the music.

    uncles don't mother people.

    they light them on fire.

true story. I'd know, I'm a class 1 uncle, and apparently that one is my sisters favorite story to tell people "did I ever tell you about the time dave set my son on fire, oh, it's hilarious..."

    be an uncle

    blow shit up.

Funny, I think precisely the opposite. The youngun's are the ones who are boring.

    I need something more radical.

Edit: Dancing to hook up, ya gotta be kidding. Or, shot races...

Before it was "The Alibi" it was "The Office" also a classic dive bar name.

There's nothing wrong with sipping whiskey. I've been doing that since I was 16... that doesn't make you old.

I can relate. Speaking to younger people, especially overhearing them speak with each other, is when I feel old. I am clearly not interested in much of what younger people are, and so conversation with them can be boring, and sometimes causes a slight loss of faith in humanity... And I find myself a bit over partying. I live in an environment now where it would be both acceptable and reasonable to party most nights but I'm just not up for it anymore. Shot races? No thanks..

It's just age. Things that were infinitely fascinating and seemingly of insurmountable importance when you were younger lose their appeal and (hopefully) you find more meaningful pursuits.

    What is a dive bar?

We don't have them here. They sound awesome.

You guys are all tremendously "mature." I'm prouda yas.

A dive bar is a cheap, barebones, watering hole, Face. Typically homosocial, and proletarian.

You got it, though the subject matter of the stories is usually unintelligible.
