So I've been doing a lot more painting recently, for school and for fun... here are some watercolors I did. and a self-portrait happy new year everybody!!
I love them! The first two are very whimsical indeed! The first one has a beautiful tone to it and the second one has a lovely background landscape. Great work. And I love your self portrait. You captured the essence of your dreads for sure. Good work!
Love them, totally make me smile dude! Very creative and fun...the watercolours give a soothing sensation.
Thank you. I tell it like I see it. =] Oh and I find it important for people to keep encouraging people. When people stop giving praise for good work, people stop creating (at least in my experience).
Totally love them! I think watercolor is my favorite mediums to look at... there is just something about watercolor that just really pulls me in. I like your style.
thank you, dear. i like making you smile.. i love watercolors too! omg, we should hang out! you are so right... artists are like bunnies, you gotta take them out of their cages every once in a while. stroke their fur a little, tell them they're adorable. make them think they're the sole recipient of your attention and then put back in their cage. thanks, hun. i've only recently started doing watercolors in a more representative style... abstract was it for me until a little while ago. i know right!? cupcakes fucking rule... they should serve cupcakes on airplanes and at the movie theaters
thank you, DazedGypsy... i see you around the forums and i like your posts. i've been working with a limited palette on most of my paintings. which means i do a painting with only 4-5 colors, mixing them to get what i need. it was suggested by one of my teachers and is working nicely. meow check out my gallery... its time for a mind-fuck...
hey i really appreciate that. thank you. i like the idea of using a few colors.. i'm not a really great artist but i draw and paint for fun and i like to use only a couple for one piece also.
what year are you in school? you are going after a bfa right? have you taken any color theory classes (or read up on it yourself)? it's one of my faves.... color theory. i love experimenting with different combos such as split complementary, etc. And i only use primary and black and white paint. i love to mix my own colors and when i only buy those paints, i force myself to learn how to make the right hue that i am trying to find.
well, i'm technically a sophomore but i just switched to art so in that respect im a freshman. i'll be taking color & design class in the spring semester. there are so many different types of primary though.. like blues for example a warm blue is ultramarine(its got some red in it) and cerulean blue is a cool blue. the two will mix very different greens and purples. take red for example... rose madder is a cool red and alazarin crimson a warm red. indian yellow is a soft warm yellow whereas lemon yellow is bright. now stay with me... im talking about watercolor, not acrylics or oils. take alazarin crimson and mix with ultramarine you get a deeper purple(with more staining power) than alazarin crimson with cerulean blue. so thats kinda my theories on color, but we'll see how that holds up in class. also i like using primaries that are close to cyan, magenta, and yellow that are used for printing. in case i want to make a print later then i'd like to use colors within the gamut of printable ink. that means i generally pick cerulean blue or blue(green shade) over french ultramarine, and rose or magenta over alazarin crimson, and indian yellow over lemon yellow(nickel). high-five! oh my god! you read my mind... this girl i went to university with before i got kicked out the first time she made cupcakes where the frosting had marijuana butter in it... they were sooooo good.
you make ganja butter, and then take some powdered sugar and mix it with peanut butter and a lil bit of crisco is what she did. im sure there are other recipes... but they were to die for.
Oh dear Goddess and Ovid... I would be in heaven. Anyway, would LOVE to see more of your artwork, dig your style for sure.
