This time it is with my laptop. Dell XPS 1330, two months out of warranty. Turned it on today, was on for about 10 minutes, then it shuts off by itself. Won't turn back on. None of the lights are on on the laptop. Light is on on the power adaptor. I've been doing some research, apparently alot of people are have had this problem and it turns out to be the motherboard.

Anyone have any insight into this on what to try or do to verify whats wrong? Anyone think I'd beable to renew my warranty and claim this happened a day or so later and get it repaired under renewed warranty?

I have to say I'm sick of dell and this horrible product and its horrible technicians. My LCD went defective, and when they replaced it It was still defective just in a different way. Then when they repaired it again and sent it back, and the webcam didn't work. My god! Not to mention the motherboard and the cpu was replaced before already.

My suggestion, do research on components and compatibility and construct your own. To hell with shoddy pre-packaged corporate bundles.

Thats a good suggestion. I had that done with my desktop, and I've barely had a problem in the six years I've had it, except for having to replace a power supply.

You could always check tiger direct dot com and see if they carry replacement parts / refurbished components for your model??

Well i went ahead and renewed my warranty. I'm hoping they can't tell when my computer screwed up and it gets covered.

My guess is that the fuse in the power supply has blown. In most cases this can be fixed. I wouldn't do it myself ...... or I may try but I highly reccommend forking out a little bit of cash if you can to someone who has done it before.
