So I saw them a couple weeks back and I'm bored so I'm gonna right about it. Me and my buddy got really drunk and then my dad took us out to Toronto. The three of us got high as fuck before the concert... And during the concert many times. I couldn't believe it. I was about to see Metallica, it had been 5 years since I last saw them and it all felt like a dream. When they came out the sound was LOUD. Too loud kind of, but they fixed the sound by the halfway point of the first song. Perfect sound quality though, I couldn't believe four people were making that sound... But hey, when you have a bottomless pit of money to spend on equipment your show is gonna sound pretty damn good. They were playing so good live. Lars was doing fuckin' great I couldn't believe it. I guess it's true, some nights he plays well and some he's shitty. I was so close to the stage, 6th row. I caught a pic and a Metallica beach ball. After the second song James started talking. It was so cool, it's like he was talking to everybody 1 on 1 but at the same time.. It's hard to explain but if you've seen Metallica and heard James talk to the crowd you'll know what I mean. He literally sounded like the old James Hetfield from 89 when he was talking, it seemed more high pitch and said "fuckin'" almost every other word. Then he stopped talking.... Palm muted to open 6th strings and said "here's some old shit". Holy shit, they exploded into For Whom The Bell Tolls. I almost shit my god damn pants. I was so drunk during the whole concert. It's just so hard to explain how awesome it was.... EDIT: I forgot to talk about Lars.... He was very good this night, he actually used a lot of double kick. I don't understand it, whenever I watch videos on youtube you can't even hear his double kick but when it was live it sounded SICK.
Glad you had a great time at the concert! Well, Metallica really is great live. I've seen them twice so far, and they've been fantastic on both occasions. Lars isn't THAT horrible really, or else he would have been replaced many years ago. He's not perfect, but then neither is ANYONE for that matter. Anyone has had bad performance from time to time, it's just that, with Lars, people tend to focus on those instances more persistently it seems. Even some freakishly perfectionist players like Steve Vai or Eric Johnson would hit a wrong note every once in a while. But then that's a part of what make the live experience what it is. But you're right, they are LOUD!!! Out of all the concerts I've been to so far, I think Metallica experience has been some of the loudest of all.
I would give anything to see Metallica live, but theyre skipping Australia. And for you to have seen them twice when i havent seen em at all. I fucking envy you man Back to watching cunning stunts for me lol
nice dude, i saw them a couple months ago and they were fucking ridiculous, Lamb of god opened and they were also insaine. but holy shit, they played for whom the bell tolls? they didnt for mine...
I was at the second Toronto show. It was my first time seeing them and I was in the pit, crushed up against the barriers in front of the stage the whole night! Which was cool except for the idiot behind me who felt that he should be able to hump my ass the whole night. But I eventually belted him in the ribs and told him to get the fuck offa me. He soon went his own way. They fuckin' rocked the ACC that night! I loved when they released the black beach balls at the end, my cousin wanted to get one, I forget if she managed to find one or not. I'm still pissed I forgot to bring my camera cause I would have had some sweet ass shots of all the guys cause it was centre stage and I basically could have shook hands with James if you know.. he was into that sorta thing. I thought it was hilarious when they started playing Working Man by Rush. Kudos to the Rush boys is always appreciated as they are one of my fave bands of all time. Great show, I will def see Metalica again!
