OK, I think the recent wins for anti-gun politicians in Congress and the White House have emboldened them in their efforts against us. They seem to have forgotten what happened after the Federal Assault gun ban put into effect by Clinton. We must remind them, and we must never let them forget it. I want to found an organization akin to the NRA; but with less of an emphasis in lobbying and campaigning, and more of an emphasis in grassroots activities (not protests; but putting referendums in state ballots, especially in the places where gun laws are most restrictive, to show anti-gun politicians that their constituencies are voting for them for other reasons) and winning judicial test cases (Heller v. DC was a major victory for us; but very little has come of it because we have not availed ourselves of it). I have never started an organization like this before, and would like to hear from people who have, and can give me advice on how to go about it. I need advice on what kind of tax status I should seek (I know it's not a non-profit; but I don't know much else), and on how to set up a web page or a web site. The idea for the page or site is that people would be able to download referendum petitions, have their friends sign them, then send them back to the organization. I am not too savvy about this, as I've never posted on the internet on anything other than social sites or bulleting boards; but this would be something on a different level. With more leeway on what can be posted.

The organization would not deal exclusively with gun issues; but also other political issues of a Libertarian nature. Also, if someone could tell me of other websites similar to this one with a pro-gun or libertarian stance, I would greatly appreciate it.

Yeah I'm with ya, man. The Obama Black Helicopters were just here, and they took seized all my guns, even my favorite 12 gauge with the Viagra emblem engraved on the barrel, and the Glenn Beck solid steel ball bearing "testicles" dangling below it. So now I have no protection from from the liberal atheist homosexual democratic book-readin' NPR-listenin' racially-diverse socialist onslaught that's being led by a black radical foreign-born muslim terrorist sohshullist president.

Seriously, though, no one wants to take your guns nor even restrict your right to brandish them outside Town Hall meetings.

BS, have you picked up a newspaper lately? Have you been tackled while trying to catch the last bus home by police who thought you were trying to run from them, though they never told you to stop or flashed their lights? Do you even know what a libertarian is? Why are you even posting on this forum? I'm sure there's plenty of other forums for libs on this site. This one is a libertarian, not a liberal one, and if you don“t support my efforts, I will thank you much not to try to crap over them.

On another note, I'm very sorry about your loss... Don't take the frustration out on me though.

And if you don't agree, start your own thread elsewhere; but don't clutter up mine.

    Have a good one.

I took it as a troll, since it was only your second post ever. I didn't even expect you to return to see if anyone replied. So in this instance I'll just say... welcome!

And I will just say thank you; but just because it's my first post here doesn't mean I'm not serious about this. I have been posting for the first time in a lot of forums, simply because things haven't been like this for a long time, and because I didn't feel I had to, nor had I thought about what has to be done. Well, so long, and have a great day.

The Federal Assault Weapons Ban wasn't the only factor that knocked the Democrats out of power. You also have to remember HillaryCare v1. This was a pretty big issue at the time, and it upset quite a lot of people. It's not as well remembered since it didn't pass, but it was also a major factor in the elections.

What anti-gun politicians? More liberal gun laws have actually been passed in the past year, it's the one thing the blue dog democrats and republicans can agree on.
