Hey there lads, First post and all that, hope to lurk for a while. Anywho. Me and my dad have planned to go to amsterdam in may this year. Anyone here who has been to the 'Dam got any recommendations on hotels to stay at that are near the coffee shops. Price isn't really an issue but the cheaper the hotel, the more we can smoke . Cheers Dan.
Well, you can stay at any hotel and have a CS just a stones throw away. Hell some CS's even have their own hotel above their shops. What exactly are you looking for? If you're looking for cheap you can stay at a place like the Hotel Abba but that's on the outskirts of town. However in Amsterdam it's very easy to get from one end of town to the other be it by tram, bike or on foot. And as I said even the Abba is a stones throw away from on of the best CS's in town Katsu and the Noon.
Thats pretty much what i wanted to be honest. A hotel right near a CS so me and my dad can do what we've gotta do then just walk about the place and get drunk . A hotel above a CS sounds intreguing though. That'd be a laugh. "Can i have some dutch gold and a bowl of frosties please".
Hotel Abba is booked up . Any other recommendations for somewhere close/above a CS and whats nearby to it . Cheers.
The Greenhouse Effect, Abraxas & Bulldog (Fun place just dont buy bud there) are the only 3 I can think of off the top of my head. Not really sure if the Abraxas ones are even open yet. The Greenhouse effect is next door to Stones and across the street from Hill Street Blues, and just up the street from Baba and Sheeba. Here check this site out........ http://home.freeuk.net/coffeeshop/index.htm it's a great site!!!! Lots of coffeeshop reviews and a great map showing the location of coffeeshops, the names are clickable and brings you to a brief discription, address and reviews of the coffeeshop clicked. Enjoy!!!
Well you shouldn't have to walk far to a coffeeshop from any hotel/B&B. Have you tried the Winston? http://www.winston.nl/ - great location. We got a pretty good deal with Die Port van Cleve just off Dam Sq through Expedia. I've stayed at the Clemens before. Although no coffeeshops next door you don't have to walk very far to find one. http://www.clemenshotel.nl/ Hope this helps & have a safe trip
Winston is always a good deal. There's always..... The quintin: http://www.quentinhotels.com/ The Old quarter: http://www.oldquarter.com/ Try those 3..if no go we'll come up with more
Cool - glad you found somewhere I've only got until June 12 to go... omg it can't come quick enough. At least our flight is only 45mins unlike you guys... shame
Sounds good. Me out-smoking the old man...then going to the bar and him out-drinking me hahah. My trips in may. The 2 hour flight will be worth it just to know i'll be going before you ;P
Good choice!!! You'll like the Old Quarter, good location & pretty clean and comfortable. Now it's the wait that's gonna kill ya...lol As good ole Tom Petty says "The waiting is the hardest part!!!"
I stayed in the Old Quarter last November, It is really cool. I got lucky my room had canal view. They have a bar, food, music I think on Monday. Right beside Old Quarter is Hunter's Bar , the shop I visited all mornings for my wake and bake. Right in front of the hotel there is a good place were you can smoke a joint after all the coffee shops are closed (coffee shops regularly close around 1:00 am, after that there is no more legal places to buy herb) Have a nice time there!!!!
It sounds great. I just keep reading peoples reviews and thoughts on the old quarter and its surrounding area and it just sends me loopy . Any hugely recommended shops around the area?
Hunters, Stones, Greenhouse effect, Sheeba, Funny People and Hill Street Blues are in that area. None of which I would call hugely recommended but are definatly not the worst shops. The closest hugely recommended shop near there would be The Green Place maybe about 1/4 mile southeast of the Old Quarter. De Kuil is about the same distance to the Southwest. They're menu isnt the greatest but it's a real chill comfy place to hang and smoke. They usually have some nice blueberry on the menu. If you like hash try their Parvati Creame YUMMY!!!.
Awesome, i wonder if theres an iphone sat nav app that will direct me to wherever i want to go in the dam
