Any one use this?...I'm thinking of switching because they offer twice the speed I'm getting for half the price I'm paying If you use them are you happy with your speed and service?
well I guess Ill find out and let you guys know....I signed up today for a years service..I hope it wasn't a mistake
well....if anyones interested...they do exactly like they say...the service worked on the 8th day just like they said it would...the speed is only about 20% faster than my other provider...but the price just couldn't be beat ...18$ a month sure is better than the 34.95$ that my old one way going to jump to ..of course the 18$ is only for the first year...but that gives me 357 days to find the next best deal sidenote...acanac is a pain in the ass to set up with linksys wrt54g wireless
I did...and I like it so far...only one outage which was yesterday for 5 hours but we had floods and wicked lightning so it was understandable yip yip yip
the speed sucks...they say "it depends how close you are" to whatever...they use Bells wires and theres a Bell substation right down the street..you think that would be close enough to get more than 20% of the speed they advertise consistently they say "up to 5mbps"...so far I average 6-700kbps with occasional speed of 1mbps safe to say this will be a non renewing account :frown:
of course now its higher than I ever seen on previous tests this is what they advertise>> http://www.acanac.ca/DSL.html
Okay. It still 'could' be your problem. Step one. (of quite a few to figure out if it's them or you.(suggested reading> http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/?tag=ADSL_Theory) Check your SIGNAL attenuation and LINE attenuation. http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/?tag=find_sync and I see this on the link you posted > "Please be aware that not all areas support 5Mps speeds" What is written after it does not relate. Trust me, it just dont. It just makes people think they will be fine. The exchange you areon might not have the hardwear for 'faster' DSL ports. ( I dont want to get into the difference in the Australian terms for DSL Vs the North American.) Right now there could be a whole bunch of issues affecting your speed. So if you go though them all one and a time BEFORE to hit up their customer support, you will have a better experience with the customer support. (dont mean you will get what you want.)
Afterthought: Have you signed up to their forum yet ? Here's a tip, do everything you can by yourself (that includes posting on other forums for help, like here) before posting on your providers forum... the nerds will be responsive to people who have put in some effort.
update...they fucking suck you start a ticket and the first thing they say is it must be your computer or router...ya right...its must be my computer or router that tells therir cheap ass modem to shut down at random intervals then all you get is a 1 800 number to call that is only open regular hours ...go ahead and call if you like to listen to shitty music
mine says 3.14 mb/s for download and 0.37 for upload...what the hell does it mean?..is mine quicker or slower? and how the hell did you get it to paste in the post..i couildnt?
I been getting 5 and 500 lately...works fine but the slow times are when BELL throttles down the speed i dont remember how I pasted it I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE EVER GO WITH THIS COMPANY the first year price was great but the LACK OF CUSTOMER SUPPORT really sucks...and THEY KNOW IT so they lock you in to NON REFUNDABLE contracts..
it says 4 out of 5 stars so i guess i shouldnt complain...mines about 50 bucks a month but bundled in with cable and a land line its 148 a month for all 3
cant remember what this one was last renewal maybe 25$ or 35 a month..i paid the year advance ...stupid stupid stupid....i should have went with the cable internet at least the tech people are in town instead across the ocean
