Random folks stop me or holler "Hey!" and then strike up a convo almost always starting with, "How did you get your hair like that?" I actually get compliments on my locks now, too. This has happened a lot in the past couple months. Last night some guy walked up to me when I pumping gas and scared the sh*t out of me. But he was asking how to get dreads. He said, "I heard you can't wash your hair." I was like - "Dude, it's your hair, you gotta wash it, that's just gross." His friends laughed at him. It's funny how many people think you can't wash your hair! No wonder so many people think dreadies are dirty hippies LOL
EVERY single person, and i mean every one, that has asked about my dreads asked if i wash them, or said that they heard you cant wash them. crazy people
nobody has ever stopped me. At the mall one time a lady running a curling iron kiosk stopped me and asked me what my beauty routine is. I told her I dont have one. She aske me if she could curl my hair. I was like....uh....I have dreads...I dont think that'll work. Her husband then popped out from behind me...it was weird... and he told me that when he was a kid in India they all dreaded their hair with beer and honey. He was bald. I couldnt help but to connect the two and giggle.
a woman in the liquor store (heh) today told me that my hair was awesome. she was kinda crazy though.
exactly true! and even sometimes they won't say it to my face, but later they'll mention it. Like this girl I was with for a while, one day we're laying on the couch and she's like "I still think you're cute even though you don't wash your hair" WTF?! why wouldn't I wash my hair woman!!!!?
when i got off the train today, a big issue vendor tried to get me to buy his mag, i said no thanks, he said, 'ok love, have a nice day, love yer locks!' awwwwwwwwwwww it made me feel guilty.
When I got my dreadies I didnt know anything about them except I wanted them, and i didnt wash my hair for 3 months (weirdly I dont think they smelled bad). I didnt care i was rockin a badass hairstyle, then my friend who had dreads back in the day told me i was retarded and to go wash my hair... But still even now when people ask if I wash my hair i just tell them i havent in 7 months because they're reaction is always pretty funny!
i dont have dread locks yet but ive told my friends and they tell people that stuff, and everyone says like. ew gross you cant wash your hair or something. i swear to god. EVERY PERSON. they must all be half retarded....
older black lady kept staring up me in Goodwill. I'm used to that, so I kinda didn't pay her no mind, but then she finally asks me, "Is that your real hair?" When I looked at her strangely and responded "um, yes", her response was "It looked too thick to be real" *brainsplode* Do you people ask you guys if they can have one of your dreadlocks? That's happens to me a lot.
