Help me find resources to grow organically in Texas

I finally have a yard to grow in, and am good with houseplants but have not the faintest idea how to grow anything I can eat. esp. organic. I also am feeling some urgency, just in case 2012 is a disaster, I will need to know how to survive on the land. Will have 15 acres to live on.

well first, don't get hybirdized or GM seed like they sell at Home Depot, Lowes, Wal Mart and the big box stores. You want "heirloom" non-GM seed. Here are some sources for those:

WHERE in Texas? How much water is available ... and the first thing to do is clear out whatever is presently growing in the plot you want for your garden, start to improve your dirt, whatever you've got.
