i had no idea where to post this question, i figured this would be the closest place, if you consider boxing as a fitness workout..... does anyone know how much it costs to join a boxing gym, and other costs that would go along with this. i have tried searching prices on the internet, but it seem that gyms dont like to put their prices on their websites. can anyone help me with this? thanks
Start by jogging.. While on your jog physically go into a boxing gym and ask a real person all the information about what you need.
are you actually looking for a real boxing gym? or one of those boxing fit crap places? theres a difference
do the fitness regimes by all means don't bother with the boxing, taking blows to the head isn't healthy.
You don't spar unless you want to - and many people don't want to, as they have no desire to step in the ring - they just want to learn how to box. If learning how to box is the goal, then going to a real boxing gym is far far better than the fitness boxing/kick boxing crap. you're not going to find prices without going to the gym and talking to the trainers.
hmph, thats what i thought. personally, i wouldnt mind getting in the ring. i box with my boyfriend (the blows to the face and head dont really bother me, of course he doesnt use his full force), i just would really love to get the conditioning, learn the techniques, and get to use it.
a good boxing gym will build up to full sparring if you want to do that. you'll start off with the basics, throwing punches, blocking, foot movements, etc. then for sparring, you'll be in the ring with someone who is experienced, and you'll continue to build up your skills...then over time you'll have full contact sparring. it is a process, not only to help you acquire the necessary skills, but to keep you safe and keep the sparring partner safe as well. at least, thats how it should generally work
thanks for the info. that's actually what i was hoping for. really good technique first, then the rest.
