So, I was just wondering what you all think of the Manson Family. Love em, hate em? Susan Atkins passed away recently. RIP. I wonder how Charlie felt about her passing. Ne way, just bored. Thought this might be a juicy topic of discussion. Peace, Kitty

The story is a fascinating one. I've read tons of material and testimony surrounding the many cases. Unfortunately there's never been a really good, detailed, and complete book ever written about the Manson Family. "The Family" is all rumor/conjecture, "Helter Skelter" limits itself mostly to the legal case and details of the murders. Before Paul Watkins died, he wrote a book that filled in some stuff; Tex Watson's book basically blames Manson, rock music, and drugs for the murders he committed- and tells you to find Jesus. But were any of the Manson chicks... "hot?" Oh yeah I'll play.

Gypsy (Catherine Share) was truly hot back in the day, from the photos I've seen, and from that documentary film shot at Spahn Ranch. In fact I think she had been in a softcore porn movie, maybe with BobbyB? I don't remember for sure. I saw a recent interview with her on TV, and she seemed to have aged gracefully.

Brenda (Nancy Pittman)was good lookin' too- she still looks quite good, at least based on the photos that were on her Facebook page (no longer viewable by public).

Cathy Gillies was kinda hot. The last known pic of her suggests that she aged quite gracefully as well.

Barbara Hoyt was a hottie too, in the earlier days. Looked like a movie star actress.

Ansom13 (wife of... who was it... TJ I think?) was very charismatic and had a strongly appealing calm appearance. She was on the Geraldo "Manson Family Reunion" show wearing Manson nylons- the audience was so outraged, and she just stayed cool. Hilarious, too. She's dead now.

Oh, and that Sherry chick that married the biker guy who lived at Spahn- she was cute as can be.

None of the females above were alleged to have been involved in any of the murders, btw. The girls sent to do the killings were the homely ones.

While on the subject- I disagree strongly with those who say Manson was of above average intelligence and used his intelligence to manipulate. I've seen no evidence that Manson knew anything about any subject that he talked about. The "skills" he used to manipulate were not original, not new, and not "hypnotic" or any of that bullshit.

I still think that some of the family music was fucking good. Even BobbyB's stuff recorded in prison is pretty good.

All that just my opinion. May the killers die in jail.

"When you see the children, X's on their head,
If you dare to look at them, soon you will be dead"

    -from a Manson family song

If you have a copy of "Helter Skelter" and some of the pages are sticking together, you might have an affliction a tad more serious than Seasonal Affective Disorder. Ruth Ann was obviously the hottest though...

She was underage though, so she doesn't count.

I just finished reading a book that White Rabbit wrote. It was ridiculous. He's a real story teller, who wished that he was much closer to the family than he actually was. It was a good story though, as long as you don't pick it apart.

No I don't have a thing for serial killers. I just think it's an interesting story and was hoping for a hot topic of discussion.

well everyone has a right to their opinions but I still remember the day that the 60s stopped
and I do blame Mansons for a lot of the chit at the end of the decade

Close between Squeaky and Sadie but went for Sadie in the end 'cause she looks more like the apple of my eye. Wrong to do this poll though. ha ha ha

Ah... Charlie. He was a sort of a gaunt monster, a messianhic demon, iff you will.

"Sadie", as it were, by far.
ps-Helter Skelter was a great film
