i'm a dumbass who shouldn't type when i first wake up (i say stupid things) several of my posts, upon clearer thinking, have been redacted like this. i do have one question... why are both of the most common words i hear used to refer to the earth (i.e., terra and gaia) both derived from completely misogynistic societies, and why does the earth have a gender? (don't worry, i love and respect my mother)
Mother earth is beautiful, we will all live in harmony, brothers and sisters united for peace and love
I consider Earth to be of no specific gender. Earth consists of all things on it, as all things consist of earth.
for me Gaia is just a name for the earth just as you can call your boy or girlfriend by the birthname or honey or darling or whatever i like the name and for me she is female because we are all living on her and she cares for us thats exactly what a mother also does. Peace and Love Lhiya
I did like what you wrote about things to try and remember to bring to gathering though. Very well written.
if we're all family, why would we want to be dismissive of ideas and thoughts? and whatever you think i'm trying, dollars to doughnuts it's your preconception and not a measure of understanding. and for the stupid things i may write, i'm a bit wound up coming out of dreams, and have instituted a wake-up/cool-down period of silence to help with that. i've always wondered several things, first of which is why something so much more complex than we can ever understand has to be assigned gender. i didn't know that Salvia, either the person (don't know one myself, but you could be referring to a nickname or handle) or Salvia Divinorum, was/is/are a final authority on anything metaphysical. now, are you game for open discussion, or is this book closed in your mind? second, why use the names Gaia and Terra? both are sourced from societies that basically put women a step below livestock. seems to me that a matriarchal society would have been the place to source a name for the Earth mother, although i think living energy transcends gender. just my opinion. also, i find being called doll a bit derogatory. we're family, right, sugar-buns? how about i call you sister and you call me brother? or you can call me stephen, Mr. Burwick passed three years ago, and it wasn't pretty, much like his heart. everything needs to be examined, and discussed, right up until the end of the world as we know it. don't assume hostility simply because of confident language. as for the Price of Nothing, i'll read it if you read the Value of Nothing (Raj Patel). i simply don't have the resources or time, unfortunately, to read everything ever written that pertains to what i'm saying. there's a lot of it out there, and my time is much more limited than most people would guess. ever try living in an hourglass? not too much fun, and the sand will cover me soon enough. i suppose, if you really wanted to, you could make your point more clear, and give me a synopsis. or not, i'll love you all the same. "A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing" ~ Oscar Wilde. i don't have time to be a cynic, but i do have time to think. love to all my brothers and sisters, and keep an eye out, i'll be posting instructions on how to create a six dollar solar oven and an evaporation-based cooler that can keep food fresh for weeks instead of days. both are quite handy, but i have to go deal with a spinal abscess and will get to it tomorrow. peace, love, gender-equal unity stephen
Are you really going to make this an issue?!? Ever hear the phrase: Sperm Doner.. grow a baby inside you for 9 mos., breast feed it for a year or so and then make your claim. You seem to be gender disgruntled, I'm wondering, my feelings here, do you not think we are your equals bc I keep hearing remarks from you that seem to "put women in their place" type additude. That dog just wont hunt round here. Cockadoddledo new young rooster in the barn yard.:lurk5:
hehehe! i'll take the gender identification of nongendered concepts one step further and say the universes are conceived within the unfathomable vastness of The Womb of "God".
"We give thanks to the mother gaia, give thanks to the father sun. Give thanks to the children in the garden, where the mother and father are one."
Salvia is much more an authority than any silly hu-mans are. And there was once a matriarchal society on this planet, but was overtaken by the new order. Pity..
Really? I mean, really? Seems to me you have you and me confused in all of this, sister. You might be used to a patriarchal/misogynistic attitude from males, but don't project that onto me. I'm not saying it's Father Earth, and at the same time, I never called you an incubator or baby-factory, which, by the logic of me being a sperm donor, is what you would be. Dismissal is not productive, and I never dismissed you. Why would you act like this?
and, to be clear, i've always preferred (as in, it's what i like, and choose to use) The Great Mystery for terms like Gaia or God. i've always felt too small to understand anything that big, so, the Great Mystery it is.
one last note before some angry mod kills my attempt to communicate... Doug, I give up, you were right. "hold stick near center of its length. Moisten pointed end in mouth. Insert in tooth space, blunt end next to gum. Use gentle in-out motion." I'm meeting Wonko in the morning. I'm going to bring him a scooter. He seems to like them.
