Have you ever stepped into shit, or something disgusting? Like a pigeon or dog poo. I personally do not mind stepping in poo in nature, but in a city I´m trying to avoid it. What about you?

Yes, as barefooters I believe we've all stepped in something that would turn stomachs more or less. The best thing about stepping in dog poop in barefeet is that it can be very easily washed away among other such gross stuff. The bad thing about stepping in nasty thing such as dog poop while wearing shoes is that the stuff gets in all of the crevices underneath your shoes.:puke:

Certainly not intentionally:eek: although I'm sure I have at some point. If so, it wasn't a memorable event.:ack2:

Yeh it is easily cleaned. At local parks, even if I know it isn't aproblem I seem to hate canadian geese. Maybe if they were mexican geese.....

Not nearly as frequently as when I used to wear shoes. Back then, I'd step in dinosaur poop on a regular basis. :D

Reading the topic I was kind of expecting a poll about it, too... :D - anyway, as other barefooters already wrote: shit happens to bare feet as well. Or stepping accidentally on a slug or an earthworm... It tends to happen more often to shoe-wearers, since they don't watch the ground they walk on as much as barefooters generally do.

    Wiggling shit-free toes,

Okay, I already responded, so I won't go into that. Every time I go to the forum and see "Have you ever stepped into shit" I laugh. It's such a great, fucked-up topic LOL.

I had the misfortune of stepping in dog shit unshod for the second time as recently as two months ago. Since I tend to do most of my barefoot strolls in the city, I'm sure I've stepped in pigeon droppings on more then one occasion, but didn't notice it because it usually tends to be stuck to the pavement. Here's a little tip: The best way to avoid stepping on dog shit when barefoot is to stay off the grass.:)

I also stay off the grass for the most part, especially in areas where there is likely more dog poo on the ground, like in urban areas and such. Once I stepped barefoot in somebody's coughed-up lung infection at a flea market and that was pretty gross. I actually felt it squish.

<author deleted irrelevant story about crash-landing into a pile of dog doo>

But yeah, I agree that going barefoot allows one to be way more aware of what they've stepped in so they don't track it into the house or car, and that poo and other gross things wash off bare feet real easy with no fuss.

Of course I have, both barefoot and shod. It's been much easier to clean off my bare feet, and also I haven't ever tracked it into the house after stepping into it barefoot.

While I hate stepping in dog poo, I completely fail to see why this is seen as a *barefooter* problem. Stepping in it sucks no matter what you wear.

I do voluntary work most weekends at a local nature reserve, so i have "experience" of the poo of a wide range of birds and mammals. I just ignore it, but try not to tread it indoors.

only once, in deep thick grass, i treaded on something I thought it was shit but i didn't want to find out if i was right or not. i just went ahead in grass and to the pond until they got out clean.

Well I haven't stepped in shit yet, but so far the worst thing I have stepped in would have to be tree sap. Why? Cause it's all sticky, and makes anything you may step on stick in between your toes...

I haven't yet stepped on shit barefoot, since I'm usually watching out. However, I've stepped on bugs, and it's nice that they easily come off my feet. Oftentimes, after walking or rubbing my foot on the ground, you can't tell by looking at my feet that I stepped on a bug.
