Recently in my area of southend, there is an ancient roundabout, full of trees, bushes, flowers, and it looked absolutly stunning! But When i found out they were planning to rip it all apart to cover is in concrete and i was furious! we organised a meeting with the council to try to discuss it and sort it out with no problems. but they decided they would be sneeky and start to rip these trees out of the ground at 2 in the morning 2 days before our meeting with them!

some of these trees were well over 100 years old! and they all just got shoved into a shredder! and they guys who were doing it where laughing! thinking it was great fun, when the reality of it wasnt!

i find it tragic that people now days have no respect for the enviroment, we owe this planet so much for letting us live on it, and some people take advantage and totally disregard it!

Sure it's sad to see something like that torn down, but you have to consider how many trees were cut down to make a city. You say the Earth 'lets us live on it,' although the Earth is an inanimate object. The things that live on the Earth are what matter, not the Earth itself. Unless you're suggesting we go back to living in wigwams, trees have to be cut down sometimes. It's sad, but it's necessary.

And I think you'd have to cut down trees to build a wigwam too. Of course, they'd be small ones to use for framing, but trees would still have to be cut down.

That is sad...why are they ripping out the trees? Are they building condos?

just to build traffic lights when there not needed, but what annoyed me most they didnt even want to listen to what we had to say, all we were gonna say is to replaced the trees somewhere else! but they just ignored us! and there just gonna cover the whole area with concrete ¬¬

the ring of trees round the world keeps the earth alive and going through tells the sky about the ground the ground about the sky leads us up, shows up how to climb up high... up there we see, it was given by a tree, growing we do learn, learn and then return, everything is churned, its older than a fern, it breaks through like a worm, and gets to you, the fairies, the hidden people of the world and they say hey! we are the trees and you are us, you are the plants, why do you wrestle with the branch?

this branch, that branch, the point everywhere and the tree is perfect silent... with raindrops in its hair... the fairies do dance round and round and blossom there and joy and so freely, the humans do return their cheers, and no we live in symmetry having found this missing part, we've come to start, the beating heart, the pulsing breathe of life upon leaf, they say your exhales are our inhales and you inhalations are our exhalations, so you see we are your other half, we are the you away from you, bond with us, just a bit of patience, when we work together its because the Goddess has brought us together, so great mother please do bless us with the balance to sail so true, and impress upon our hearts the sparkle of morning dew...
and as it fades we'll come to ways we'll know it rises thus, to fall again.. and in the wind be purified and such... as it reaches all the beings of the world, small, medium, and big, we like getting dirty and we like getting wet and clean, when we let go, we can really dig one another
    this is what i lean
    i learned , i leaned on a tree
    we've got eachothers back...
    seriously!

It's just 22 trees? It's necessary? I get so god damned sick and tired of this attitude. People who think like this have made room for the steady decline of the environment. Can't we just protect the fucking trees once in awhile? Can't there be a balance in this shit. I think she has a legit gripe, these fucks where not even open to discussion cuz the fuckin trees just had to go.

Wake the fuck up and quit thinking people who want to preserve trees are naive.

this is the exact same conversation as the other thread, and the exact same question applies...

If you aren't going to cut down trees to make room for human expansion, what is your solution?

Are you going to kill people to reduce our numbers? Are you going to force sterilization on everyone?

And remember, even if we all stopped breeding this very second, there are already too many people on the planet for us to have a balanced eco-system. If the number of people never increased from what we have today, all those trees, flowers, plants and animals are going to die.

    thats lovely paperairplane!

theres one tree left there now, and it looks like there not gonna be able to cut it down because its listed! its a good thing but also bad beause the other tree could have stayed where they were

the coucil have decided for all trees they cut down....there going to two trees in the new area their building i spose its better than nothing.

You know whats stupid. You guys don't even compile an actual system by which we can make sure nature is maintained, and can be reinvigorated. You just say "Don't do that!"

That's like me saying "Don't eat that deer, deer are an important part of our environment!". "Don't build a home on that ground, creatures were living there before you!!"

How about you come up with an actual plan. Start a website and collect donations to buy some land and set it aside as a preserve. I know preservation really isn't a money business, but a bunch of kids who don't present a highly developed argument aren't going to change a thing.

Gimme a break. Ideas have been thrown around forever but they never go anywhere because of the mentality of the majority. It doesn't matter how you sell it if people don't think there is anything wrong with the status quo. That's why it got this bad because people didn't listen.

Here is an explanation for why we shouldn't carelessly destroy our resources at the rate we are going now...we will eventually do irreversible damage to the environment and doom all life on this planet. The end.

Okay here is a plan, instead of using fossil fuels lets use humans(starting with politicians) as batteries like in the matrix. It will help with our overpopulation problem too. :)

Do we do this on a voluntary basis or does someone else choose for us who goes into the 'matrix'?

I vote mothman as our first battery. Obviously he's very passionate about the environment and is willing to make the drastic changes needed to save the earth =]

I sorta figured you were... but it doesnt change the fact that if you could get 90% of the population to volunteer to be batteries for the other 10% while living out their life in virtual reality, it would solve our problems...
