So, I was asking this in the Colorado forum and someone suggested I ask here. If I'm in Denver and get caught with under an oz do they cuff ya and take you to lockup and then release you with a (maximum?) $100 fine? NORML State Laws Pagesays that Denver City Law makes possession legal...so the nazi crusaders charge you with state law ...which carries a maximum fine of $100. Is that the reality on the street or am I mistaken? Also, do other cities in Colorado have higher fines than the state law? Is that allowed? Personal experiences or FOAF experiences welxome. Thanks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHmP_KtmcB4"]YouTube- Kop Busters Raid - Raw Footage
Someone kicking 'The Man' in the nuts is always fun to watch. They dish it out so regularly and nonchalantly it's nice to see something returned to them every ten years or so...
It was like two years back or so but when i got busted for pot, and i just got a ticket....it was an mip because i was like 17 at the time, As far as i know though you'll just get a ticket and a court date, I don't think they cuff you for having less than an oz, but I am not positive on that. The max fine is $100 though for possession and if you have paraphernalia they'll tack on another $100 for every piece of paraphernalia you have.
i imagine it depends on the cop, but marijuana is supposed to be the "lowest priority" as per voters request in denver. ive never been busted though, so i really cant tell you. weve got plenty of gang bangers the cops are supposed to be focusing on. just like anyplace else, if you dont get caught (or act retarded) no worries.
Yeah, if you don't get caught you'd really wouldn't have any reason to worry would you? Unfortunately people do get caught, even when they are acting completely un-retarded. Thanks for the heads up guys. EDIT: haha, sorry to be a pest, one more question though: so city law can't trump state law right?
As far as I know all possession cases are always prosecuted under state law not local law. The legalization in Denver was just a nice gesture it wasn't actually supposed to keep anyone out of the hands of the law.
I just read that city ordinances (apparently Cities don't pass 'laws'?) only apply if they are stricter. But as everyone knows, it's always up to the cop which (if any) law s/he wants to enforce.
