i hardly wear shoes. only when the school makes me. but we cant wear sandals. i would rather wear sandals.
I think it's amazing how strict US schools are on dress code and 'safety' rules. We had no dress code at my school, well I suppose that if someone had shown up in swimsuit or something really extreme the teachers would've said something but we could wear shorts, halter tops, sandals and flipflops, have any style or color of hair we liked, and guess what, the sky didn't fall and we still have a pretty decent level of education. I went to the US for college and while they had nice classes in horse training Western style that they don't offer here, but in biology they covered stuff I'd long had in high school and the basic math class was all stuff I'd been taught in *junior* high. So from my personal experience I seriously doubt that strict dress codes are a requirement for a good learning environment... and I can't recall anyone ever getting any foot injuries either (not in regular class nor even in PE, which was mandatory barefoot inside, shoes optional on the outdoor field).
At my school, you can wear any kind of footwear, have any kind of hair, but you can't wear tank tops, short shorts, and things like that.
