yeah ill be using IRB's (Internal Reservoir Buckets), or hempy's, or whatever the hell people want to call 'em...........it's a bucket with NO holes on the bottom and 1 hole 2 inches up from the bottom of the bucket........this creates the "reservoir".........in any excess water goes in, it comes out the drain hole 2in up from the bottom keeping the reservoir at a constant level...........although, you do let them dry out abit before watering as you have to feed them heavily since the perlite has no nutrient value.........you have to give your plants what they need type deal.

Alot of people worry about the standing water in the bottom with roots in it..........well when using the light medium either perlite or a mix or perlite and vermiculite........the water wicks up and actually gets used fairly rapidly, the only downfall to these buckets.........constant watering. Others worry about salt buildup, which sure can happen if your not paying attention, but really isn't a big issue with these like you'd think there would be............i obviously can't say from experience but with all the journals i've seen with people using these.........i've only seen one person have a problem with salt buildup.

Anyhoser, that's a brief rundown.........you can google hempy buckets or Internal Reservoir Buckets and have plenty of resources to reference from.

When I tried this method I had 2 probs, the first was the roots that were in the water got brown, thought they might need air bubblers. the second was that I used white buckets, that I got from local bakery for nothin', that might have been another reason for tan roots.

yeah alot of people seem to want to add airstones...........i think with my ventilation and air movement combined with 800W in a 4ft x 4ft cab should use up the water quick, not letting the roots stand in still water for very long. Plus i will either be using black buckets or spray painted black buckets..........really thinking i won't have a problem with the roots.
