(If I'm even alowed to make this thread, sorry in advance), I'm trying to lose about 10-20 pounds. Besides exercise, do those OTC diet pills work, and are they dangerous.

(YO StinkfooT-IN ADVANCE, this aint trollin, its just a thought, so please be cool about it).

if it is available with the EC stack (ephedrine and caffeine) it can be of use and it does work...providing that you still have the diet down. What you eat and how much you eat is still priority #1. you need to fix this before even considering going on stimulants.

personally, you can ditch the name brand (stacker 2) and just source the ephedrine and caffeine separately and it'll be much cheaper.

dangerous? possibly...possibly not. depends on quite a bit to make that decision. and it depends if you actually dose it correctly...because more is not better.

again, most important part in this process is the diet.

yeah, it works to an extent...

you can fend off some of the fat for a while, but keeping it off is something else entirely.

products like this promote "the easy way" and as we know... nothing good comes easy.

here's how it works... the pills fend off your appetite while also giving you energy. you still have to eat, but you wont feel like you have to eat as much. you'll experience fidgeting throughout your day if you're not already a fidgety person. people who fidget burn more calories than people who dont. increased heart-rate, concentration, you may feel the need to do cardio workouts. youll probably crash(lose energy rapidly) if you dont eat or dont keep taking these things.

then after your satisfied with your weight loss, 10-20 lbs, you stop taking these things. your eating habits haven't changed because now you feel more hungry than before you started your diet; you've effectively starved yourself skinny. after a few weeks and a few days where you over-indulged in foods you shunned during your diet, you will have gained back the fat. and you'll have lost some of that muscle(unless you've been working out and eating right.) which as we know, muscle burns fat.

so there you go... they work, but its hard to keep the fat off without a proper diet and exercise, because you haven't changed your metabolism or your habits.

I will never recommend that people take shortcuts when it comes to their health. Diet pills may or may not work in the short term but what do you think will happen when these foreign substances are removed from the body? The body will revert back to its original state or perhaps worse than originally. And they could wreak havoc on your metabolism. Do you really think that it's a good idea to go stimulating your thyroid and adrenals with chemicals? Just a word of caution.

Perhaps formulate a lifestyle that will build your body up, making it a metabolic powerhouse that will supply you will tons of energy and high serotonin levels indefinitely. Is the point to simply lose weight or is it to improve your metabolism and your well-being?

I think the first thing you need to do is sort out some things mentally first then decide after your moods stabilize whether weight loss is something that's warranted. The other advice here is good so I can't really add much to it.

Thank you Stinkfoot. Yeah, I have some problems, alcoholism, frontal lobe damage, adderall asddcition, bipolar, etc. But I know I need to lose weight, cause when I get older, I don't want to get heart, liver problems, (as I am 10-20lbs overweight, and smoke ciggareets like a chimney). Thank you.

    PEACE

Throwing your diet out of balance will exacerbate your other problems.

Maybe it would make my mood disorders worse. However, I really gotta lose weight, man. I am extrapolating that you are in your mid 40s, and are a thousand times healthier than I am (at 26). I sincerley appreciate the advice. I wont go on STackers, though the 5 hr energy help me. At 46, you are even to young to know about heart problems, but I dont want to get them prematurley, or even at all. I am no joke overweight. i'm talking about when (and if) I get to be your age, I do't want to get Coronary Heart DIsease, a problem with arteries leading to the heart. This may seem paranoid at my age, but last time a doc tested my blood pressure, it was 135 over 90. I really think dieting would help me to delay heart probs that I might get later in life from being fat. I gotta quit smoking (cigs) too. ANway, once again, thank you.

    PEACE

I'm not saying that weight loss is necessarily a bad idea but you need to have priorities. I sense you're riding a bit of an emotional roller coaster... riding emotional highs but like a drug binge, you're going to crash. Watch the highs and lows... other things may become easier.

Look man. Ive been in your boat too and it sucks. First 2 years out of highschool I ate junk every day, did tons of drugs like coke, ecstasy and ketamine and was mentally and physically sick. All it took was nutrition, fitness, and many other aspects of a holistic approach to health and I couldn't feel better. Do yourself a favor. Weight loss pills aren't a favor.

Thank you as well. I couldn't imagine eating food on coke, X, or K, though, but I think you mean not at the same time. I wont take the diet pills. Theyd worsen my bipolar and blood pressure and anxiety. I could never eat on acid or uppers. Its good that you dont do coke anymore, man. That shit is wicked. Ketamine is fuckin trash too, like a ticket to a fried brain. I've nothin against X, though. i never did it, but as long as peeps stay hydrated, and dont overdue it, it can actually facilitate feelings of peace and unity (or so I've been told). I actually think that once in a while, like acid it can be enlightening. but I get the gyst of your message. I will try to avoid anything that gets me hyper.

what are your stats (height, weight, how much food you eat a day, level of activity)?

    height and weight are easy...

log everything you put in your mouth at fitday.com - do this for 1-2 weeks, then average the days out. don't BS this part. you need to know what you are putting into your body

level of activity - how many steps do you take in a day (pedometers are crazy cheap, so get one), do you sit at your computer most of the day? any gym activity?

you need to know where you are at right now. then you can work on a plan of attack to get where you want to be, whether that means using a slow and controlled deficit or all the way up to a really aggressive approach that'll lead into a more moderate diet after a couple of weeks.

quite a bit of walking could be 5 trips to the fridge for a fat ass

or it could mean 10+ miles for someone that is not a fatty

so i'm gonna put you in the middle, which means you're still a fatty. eat more protein, drink more water, eat more green veggies. where ever you go, run or sprint up the hills. walk when you reach the top. if you are still a fat ass from doing that, then well, you are eating too much fatty.
