I'm considering ordering some San Pedro soon in cuttings, but I'm unsure how many inches of cuttings I need. I'm planning on using an extraction as opposed to brewing a tea, though I don't know whether this makes much of a difference. My goal is to have at least enough cuttings to effectively extract 250mg. I know that the potency varies and several other things make it variable. I'm just curious to know from those of you who have experience with extraction from cuttings what has been successful for you. Any special experiences you had as a result would be helpful, too. PS - Sorry if this is a redundant thread. The search function doesn't work for me.
peruvian torch usually 100 dry grams can be extracted to a bit over a gram of alkaloids peyote i cannot bring myself to do an extraction on. It's just so perfect the way it is. a dose is usually around 8-20 good sized buttons for peyote. 7 grams of dried buttons ground into powder is a good threshold dose for peyote.
20 buttons is 20 buttons whether its fresh or dry. ill eat both sometimes. a good sized one is gonna be at least bigger than say a golfball.
Strain and prep make a huge difference. I've seen some SPs where 2-3 feet is a proper dose, but have also seen a particular patch where 8-10 inches is quite strong. In general, I've found blending and drinking the raw material to be the strongest, next is boiling down, finally dried is weakest. Don't forget that SP (and peyote) have a quite a few other alkaloids which undoubtedly play a role.
Hm, seems like I'll need to pick up a little more than I expected. I'll probably start with about 2 feet and take it from there. If I order too little, I'll simply be able to tell after the extraction process and submit another order accordingly. Thanks for all the help!
