So thoughts? Are we in fact allowing true freedom of speech even for corporations, or are we in fact helping to destroy congressional lobbying since congress will now 100% be made up of tools vs the current 83%.

This will effect the midterm elections this year, corporations generally give to Republican candidates, there's already strong backlash against Obama, back to my main point in the last thread

    hahahaha, we're all fucked.

Looks like Bill Gates has the most freedom of speech on the globe. Roe V Wade will be next. Not to worry --the wealthy (corporations& established old money)will continue to run the country and be able to get abortions. All is well.

I think the Founding Fathers are turning over in their graves.

We need some kind of constitutional amendment that makes it clear that money is not the same thing as speech. Or else we need a revolution to restore democracy.

Well to me this is the very reverse of what the US political system needs, sorry to say it but democracy in America is going the wrong way and has taken one more step to a full US plutocracy, the tyranny of wealth.

I don't believe the corporations had/have much of a problem donating any amount they wanted anyway. The monied always have ways around doing what's lawfull--they're called loopholes and they're set up by them, for them.[IMG]

Politicians should be forced to wear jumpsuits like Nascar drivers covered with patches showing who bought them.

LOL – Good start, but I think it should be extended to all think tank members, TV political pundits and lobbyists

    *

But seriously the information is usually out their on political donations people just have to look, basically its bribery in broad daylight.

The reason why I mention think tanks and lobbyists is because we now have the phenomena of people having careers as salaried employers of wealth.

As long as an individual towed the right line it would be possible for someone go straight from college into a political think tank or lobby group and continue in them with gaps for supposed ‘public service’ in government for the rest of their lives.

Even for failed or disgraced politicians they are a safe haven with good pay, for example Paul Wolfowitz who got thrown out of the World Bank job in May 2007 started a job with the right wing American Enterprise Institute think tank in July of 2007.

legalization just got sent back 10plus years imop.

Theres going to be unprecedented ads in campaigns, and you can bet grass roots sensible people are getting any corporate donation for tv ads.

To avoid a complete Republican takeover, the nonprofit organizations with liberal agendas will have to mobilize like never before. I don't think they can get the job done, but I'm rooting for them.

I agree. I'd like clear disclosure. wear the ads or don't accept them. I'd love to see who's getting money from whom.
