I have a fairly large apartment with LOTS of natural light during the day from a huge window.
    I don't have a balcony which sucks :(

I'm just curious as to what kind of plants thrive in an indoor garden since they wont ever be outside.

If you want a good long term indoor plant, try a few cherry tomato plants. They will grow to cover any window size with strings and training, and you will always have fresh tomatos

Most herbs are great to grow indoors, and then they are right next to you when you are cooking :D
