NOOO! Butter is the worst thing you can put on a burn! Put ice/cold water on it. Keep it cold.

    ooh, hon

don't put butter on it, just run your hand under cool tap water or put a cool wet towel on it. maybe take a tylenol or advil for the pain.

not ice, just cool water. ice will just damage the skin more.

I'm not sure why butter is bad, but I know that it is. :)

    Oh, I didn't know that.

i'm a clutz and i've done this many a time. haha....

the worst is when you go to bed, and all of a sudden the pain seems to come back.

butter has fat in it which is said to trap the heat causing further damage.
placing the burn under cool water is to draw out the reamaining heat.

and just wait until you take a hot shower .....hurts like bitch.

I don't know who originally came up with that old butter theory, but surely that's like creating your own personal fry-up with your burn as the hotplate. You might as well've dropped an egg on it and made a meal at the same time. :D

    Get well soon :)

    LOL, crazy

essential oil of lavender has always helped my burns heal faster. i do the normal cool water first aid thing first, and then after the burn has calmed down a bit and there's no risk of further burning happening, i dab on a couple of drops of lavender eo. no scars, no pain, good stuff. :)

hope you feel better soon. burns suck
