Well i posted this thread in a different area of the forum but here goes nothing..I wanna appreciate life..I like buddhism and catholism.. But I dont understand how the concept of celebacy plays into the role of appreciateing it because isnt sex the essance of life or the gift of it? If i dont have sex for my life and pray do you think that constitutes as appreciating it? If so iam having my doubts as to how i should appreiciate it.I believe thats why iam here. Some say Crazy ideas but i see it as logical. Lol. Because i honestly couldnt pray like that for the rest of my life, id go crazy.meditation is nice but i dont understand how thats appreciating it. Could someone help me out here.I am lost in this thing. :)

I m also not entirly sure on why they ask you to be celebate. I think it's when you are in the early stages of practice and that it helps keep you clear. I also had some issues with that. What i can reccommend is to study religions that call to you and take what calls to you, you will also see a larger picture when reading about all different types of religions... the message is similar but the practices different. You need to find what works for you. I appreciate the simple things in life, those simple things we do everyday. Sometimes it's hard but also great. I also appreciate life when I sit out side and am with nature. The aww and respect I have for it helps me appreciate life. Actually the earth and the energies of earth is where i find my forever greatfullness.

First off, belief is a substitute for knowledge. Belief is a symbol chosen to represent an unknown variable. We choose belief because we cannot verify. If you want to know something, the question "what should I believe", is the wrong one. Besides which, you already have beliefs that you are unaware that you have, that distort the truth about the world and your place in it.
As long as there is breath in you, you have legitimacy in this world, no matter what any one else may say about you.
If you want to learn greater appreciation, avoid the temptation to entertain or express negative or depreciating thoughts.

Then appreciate life, there honestly is no reason not to once you have learned not to take things for granted. Celibacy is an option, not a requirement. It's up to you to know which sexual thoughts of your mind hinders spiritual growth. Examples, obsessive attachment and other forms of lust. These 'can' get in the way.

We all started and come back again to believing for a starting point of Knowledge. So O think that the issue IS some sort of opinion to hold on to; this exists perhaps MORE than knowledge which was trained by applying in schools of competitive reputation. Really, the competition is over-rated.

We come seeking and we lean toward guidance. There is a difference between faith and belief. Faith, a willingness to accept, and belief being a claim on, or the demand for. Competitive reputation is the very unexamined belief I was referring to as distorting the perception of our relationships.

Knowledge: either the KNOWING of ways to understand (involves Beliefs); OR the KNOWING of imaginative believing what is out and out there. Absolutely, the two ways are inseparable to the Ego by the ego.

Of course, there is the knowledge you don't learn in College too.

My family were telling me before that i dont have to take that path in order to appreicate it. That i could go around just doing good deeds and other things and it could still be considered appreciating it which i tottally agree with. I thought about the Celibacy thing and i could see how that could be considered appreicating too. Like iam giving up one privilage or pleasure i seemingly recieved for whatever unknown reason, past life? luck of the draw? whatever it may be and iam sure id be kept safe in my next life. Bare with me if their are next lives and them other spiritual mumbo jumbos. Thats just a theory though, a theory i like.
