I have a hard time finding a connect for mushrooms, so lately I've been sporting the idea of picking my own at some point. I only know a little about it and that's really just street info witch may well be total BS. Any advice from experienced shroomers would be greatly appreciated. This is the knowledge I have on mushroom picking thus far. Please correct me if I'm wrong about something or point out what I'm missing. I've been told to go out to a farm that has cattle grazing in the wee morning hours with a flashlight. Look for mushrooms sticking out of cow shit, then check to see if they're the right kind by pinching the stem and looking to see if it turns purple. And what is the best way to dry? Do I just let them sit out or is there some better way? And is there anything I need to know about storage if I get a heavy hall? Also, what time of year is the best time to go picking and why?
I don't really know about this but before eating mushrooms make sure they are ok, it would be much better if you went with somebody who has done it so you don't get poisoned and die.
How would I make sure they're okay? The only way I can think is to find some junkie who would be willing to be a 'tester' lol
Most mushrooms don't bleed purple/blue, but some poisonous ones do, it's not a good idea to test them that way.
Lol, I guess that's a way, but like I said if you know somebody who knows their mushrooms then go with them to do it, if not then I wouldn't do it personally, but if you insist then get a colored mushroom book and make sure its the right kind and hope for the best.
man where do u live ...if u once know them u will find them...look for: http://images.google.de/imgres?imgu...refox-a&rls=org.mozilla:de:official&sa=G&um=1
Don't eat any mushroom that you are not 100% sure of what it is. Its not uncommon for people to misidentify mushrooms and die or get sick from eating them. Disregard any "street info" on them and consult an expert or buy good field identification guide. That are mushroom related websites that could help you id them too.
these are your best bet IMO. I have found them here in Ohio several times. If you live near the Ohio River you might be able to find the other 2 mentioned.
Panaeolus cinctulus will be the best bet to find there then.. PA, Delaware are not great magic mushroom states.. You will likely get discouraged before finding any and you will not find them for many many months right now..
Too hot for Cactus here and too dry for Shrooms w.t.f.... Of course I can grow Acacias, Datura and morning glories all over the place soI guess theres a balance in there somewhere.
Agreed. So many ways to do it, no need for pricey and obvious grow lights, just a dozen 1/2 pint mason jar's in the back of ones closet under a rubbermaid tub to help hold in humidity and keep out contams,,, Oh, and a pressure cooker,,, :cheers2:
