it has been suggested to me by someone whose opinion I respect that they would look good on me, and so, now, I am investigating getting myself a pair of well made, attractive, comfortable, engineer's boots.

I seek your knowledge, as I know most of you care more about how you look than I do.

anyone have experience with mid range boots?

sportsmansguide dot com has a number of pairs dirt cheap.

I had a pair about 18 years or so ago, they were arite I guess but I've always been partial to steel toe loggers 10"+. On the upside, most engineer boot's come off easily but I've known a few folks who hated them for the way they would come off at the wrong time when not properly fitted.

    My problems are that I

    1. have big feet
    2. want to get a well made pair of shoes (am willing to pay more if they're going to last me, but that being said, I abuse the shit out of things, my old gas mask bag <that I used as a man-bag> made it through the vietnam war, only to die after I owned it for three years)
    3. NEED them to be comfy. I'm unbelievably picky about shoes.
    4. have flat feet.

just need to find the right pair.

I wear engineer's boots pretty much every day at work, when I'm out and about, hiking, or when I take lengthy walks. They hold up very well and, once broken in, are actually fairly comfortable for being heavy boots. It can be a little tough to track down a good pair - I usually find them at the local ArmyNavy for the $100ish range.

    No.

I don't want anything to do with you, or your perverse desires.

Yeah, I understand about big feet. I have those as well and I always have to be selective about what shoes I wear.
