We just started the Canterbury Tales in English class, and our first assignment was to pick a stereotype or job and put it into the form of a poem like Chaucer did. So I'm sharing my little poem about the lead singer/guitarist from a high school emo band. I was thinking about this assignment when I was watching the real kid perform, and I made up my own story. It's pretty bad, because I was kind of tired when I wrote it...thanks for getting this far :p:
This person uses his guitar as a shield

From the attacks that his classmates would otherwise wield

He’s the Front Man of a high-school band

This protects him from being a bland

Nobody. He knows that if he could not play or sing

He would be made fun of, worth nothing.

So he writes dull songs about broken hearts,

    Inexperienced lovers and painful departs.

He wishes he could open up to the world,

To be more than just an emo band, his thoughts swirled

Sometimes he gets flashes of hope that maybe he

Can finally be himself, get the chance to be free

Then he picks up the pencil and hums a tune

And writes another dull song about silver moons.

I'm not sure that makes any sense at all...but I'll fix it before I hand it in...thanks for reading my badness <3
