Youre right to some extent. People have moved for jobs, unfortunately theyve all moved from Eastern Europe and mainland Europe over here and other places. Going out at night I havnt met one Irish person yet, everyone I meet is Hungarian, German, Czech, Polish etc...

And with the job seekers allowance which most people are on now, they help find jobs for people too...could be the shittest job possible but they find work. Not one person I know (in the city too) has been offered a job through the seekers allowance, and they havnt found work in the city for over a year. The employment market has literally been taken over by foreigners. You go into any supermarket or any business and guaranteed at least half the workers will be foreign. Theres no racist undertones there...just the "troof"

 

Purp, I think you fit the stereotype of stupid white kid to a "T". You have no idea what's going on out there in the job market. I am very lucky to have a job right now and my company is one of the very, very few that occasionally has office jobs open up. You would not believe the kind of resumes we get for $35,000 salary jobs for product managers. The managers that do the interviewing are getting so many people with four year degrees that they can toss out everyone that hasn't received a degree. People straight out of high school, straight out of college are competing with people that are 40 or 50 years old. We are getting women that haven't held a job in 20 years because they've been stay at home mom's but now their husband doesn't have a job.

There are jobs out there but you will be fighting against dozens of people. Your chance of getting the job is good only if you are WAY overqualified which would put you in the top 10% of the applicants. Even then, don't expect to get even a dime more because of your experience.

 

I just don't need to worry about it because I'm too cool to worry. I will get a very good job eventually.

Yeah it's pathetic how people have to get jobs and stuff, I know money is important but its all a pathetic game to me. Work makes me sick. I'm a smart person I will get a lot of money.

Seemed to be a trace of arrogance and judgment toward those of us who toil our full time jobs... that our reliance on that for income is somehow a reflection of a lack of intelligence. I don't think it was intended but that's certainly how it came across.

Haha thanks man yeah I am totally not saying that. At this point I am just subconciously exploring different ways to make money and still not be a job zombie. Some options that are in my mind are: I will be an organic farmer (going to do that anyways so I don't have to pay for food) be a car salesman, once I get more money get into real estate. I am also trying to learn programming I really wanted to be a game dev but its hard as fuck. I am still gonna try more though.
I also would like to get sponsered snowboarding eventually, I am not good enough yet I still have to try a backflip.

i understand how shitty the market is, but it is definitely true that a lot of people dont wish to work in "subpar" jobs. truth is more and more people are "lowering" their expectations for employment, but it still happens.

trust me, i KNOW there is a huge shortage of jobs, but there are also a lot of people that are just too stuck up as well.
