Maybe it's because we're all sedated with food and technology and medication.

I already think that RX medication is just a way to keep society content with the shit the people in charge want to shovel in their faces.

 

That and the fact that there's such an oversupply of scandal in the news that we're no longer sensitive to it. When our government acts as a criminal body we collectively shrug it off as nothing new- an apathetic response that furnishes cover for them to continue.

Of course the press wants us more focused on steroids in baseball or Tiger Woods philandering... among the manufactured distractions that keep us busy.

 

The press just wants ratings and/or magazine/newspaper sales. Americans want distractions. The press will give us whatever we will pay for. Americans in general don't want to deal with a lot of heavy, unpleasant issues. It's more fun to spend our time feeling superior to Tiger Woods because our wives haven't kicked us out for sleeping with everything that has ever worn a dress.

 

Very true- which makes us willing participants in our own disenfranchising... analogous to the mugging victim that does nothing to protect him/herself.
