I've been seeing one about my back, recently I went to the doctors, told him I've been seeing a chiropractor, and he, to put it lightly, told me to never go back, he was very adamant about it. I've done a bit of research, found out they're not officially recognised in the medical community, and there was this big thing in australia in the 1980s about chiropractors vs physiotherapists, because physio was 'proven' and chiropracty was like this new thing from America. I don't know, any additional thoughts, things to add, pesonal experiences?
See if you can find an osteopathic physician. Here in the states they have the same training as MD's but with an added philosophy and training that says for the body to feel good and function properly the skeletal system has to be aligned correctly. They can manipulate the skeleto-muscular systems far better than a Chiropracter. I've used DO's Doctor of Osteopathy for years and they can do some hella work on your back, neck shoulders whatever.
OK thanks for the input, I'll ask my physio what she thinks, because I haven't actually heard any concrete reasons why chiropractors are bad, aside from them being called leeches (they keep you coming back for the rest of your life).
there can be some very very very smart chiropractors. these are the ones who continue to stay upto date on current research and methodologies; they go out and learn different disciplines - you can say the same with the top physios, massage therapists, etc. then you get the quack chiros - but you can get quack doctors who still use very outdated methods that a far from optimal. its a personal thing - and no matter what happens at any office (chiro, the doctor, ART, etc), what you do outside the office on your own is going to be the main factor in getting healthier.
^true. my chiro totally cured my headaches, after I'd been fucked around with every noxious treatment under the sun from regular docs. actually the chiro cured about 60% of my headaches, LSD cured the rest haha
just crack your back over a chair, or. have women walk on your back barefoot< this I love alot.. I always do this under a door frame then my gf can push down by putting her hands on the frame..
I've been going to the chiropractor since I was a baby believe it or not. I haven't gone in a few years, and noticed that ever since I've stopped I've been much stiffer and irritable. I have chiropractors in my family who swear by it, as do i. Just because it isn't recognized like a brain surgeon would be doesn't mean it's not beneficial.
